Improv classes

Bud and I are now officially signed up to take an intro improv course at UCB theatre! Sean has been telling me to do this forever (albeit on my own, without the Bud, but Sean doesn't know how much I hate navigating the streets in LA), and now I'm set to begin the adventure the weekend after Labor Day. The instructor, John Bowie, is a dude I vaguely recognize, possibly because I saw him perform in NYC years ago, met him through Sean or Tony, etc. or maybe I recognize him from one of his TV gigs. Sean, help with the recall, please.

We chose a weekend afternoon class to ensure we wouldn't miss classes because of work, but we already know we will be missing one class on Columbus Day weekend (a weekend I thought to be a three-day weekend at the firm when I booked the tickets...oops). That's when we will be in NYC for a wedding of two Russians.

I hope the class helps me relax a little, and to go with the flow, but I am supposed to have zero expectations and to just "have fun." This is a hard one for me, as I tend to turn anything fun into a project for self-betterment--it'd be OK if I achieved the results I sought, but that is never the case (cases in point: golf, bridge, any type of artwork).

Oh, re golf, Bud just bought a starter set of clubs, and I bought a putter, so we can do more driving range practice at a public range we found recently that stays open till 10 p.m. After Bud feels less embarrassed, i.e., when the balls take flight regularly, we'll play this public par-3 course, too. OK, I guess I have to get dressed and start another task-filled lawyer day.
