For the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend myself,
carry1474 and my non-lj friend Steph went down to Boston to visit a friend. Or well in Stephie's case her boyfriend, Harmeet.
I was soooooo excited to be going to Boston and it lived up to all my expectations. Its AWESOME, its got old world charm and new world charm. Everything is either with in walking distance (from Harmeet's apartment anyways) or easy to get to by the "T"
We left at 4:30am on Friday and got into Boston and unpacked the car by 2:30pm. Then the adventures began, in first trying to find a parking garage near by. See the one Steph usually uses had closed down, so we had to "search" for another one. But in the process got lost in Boston's "ghetto", seriously, its called Jamaica Plains, and apparently the day before someone was shot there. So yeah that was interesting. After our long drive to Boston (about 9 hours) and our hour "visiting" Jamaica Plains all three gals were exhausted. We went out for dinner that night and crashed at around 9pm.
The next day we were up early to visit Quincy Market, to grab some lunch and shop. Not much shopping was done and we headed to take pictures and check out the Boston Harbour. From the Harbour we went to Finnigins Basement (Winners on Steriods) Basically its all the clothes department stores can't sell, they send it to this place and they have this big sign saying August 01 - September 01 75% off price tag. So you find your item check the date on the tag and you get either 75% off or 50% off etc. I got a formal dress for USD20.00! Only disturbing things were a smooshed cockroach right by the stairs of the entrance and the changeroom was ONE big room. I just tried everything on over my clothes in the middle of the store instead. LoL. After that we headed back to Harmeet's apartment to shower and get ready for dinner and a night out on the town. For our night on the town we went to this place called Jillian's. AWESOME place, three floors. Bottom floor was a dance club, middle floor was a really posh pool hall and top floor was a bowling alley. We almost had drunken bowling but all of us got tired..LoL.
The next day a few of us were a little hungover but not enough to stop us from enjoying the day. We headed to the science centre to see Gunther von Hagens
Body Worlds 2 exhibit. It was disturbing yet so damn interesting at the same time. The most fascinating was the 5 month pregnant "body" She died of lung cancer and knew she may not make it past the gestation period so she donated her body to science. But they had opened her stomach and you could see the almost fully developed baby. Its little bum and feet, the whole thing was sad.
After the Science Centre we headed to Cambridge mall for major shopping, well for the other girls..I actually behaved and only bought a sweater. After all day shopping and sore feet we ate dinner at the Cheescake Factory and felt like exploding. But damn good food, we even ate lunch the next day at the Cheesecake factory, but at least we learned our lesson not to eat soooo much! LoL.
Then it was on the road for our 9 hour drive back to Canada, didn't end up home until midnightish. But damn did I have a blast, if you have a chance to go to Boston..GO!!!
