subject Re: Happy Birthday!
Hola,
It was simple but nice--I have a book review due (Eduardo Galeano's Open Veins of Latin America) in four hours so I've been reading almost nonstop for days. John got me a surprise present and a cupcake to celebrate and then we went back to reading. In the course of the evening I managed to watch a WGBH special on The Secret Law of Attraction (exhibits
One,
Two, and
Three), organize my dresser, put away all of the clothes that I had lying around, and discover that, depending on my level of focus, I can read a page of Galeano in 1.5 to 3 minutes. Which seems depressingly slow. So I took to skipping pages when my eyes glazed over and things went a bit faster.
I've finally finished two-thirds of the book and now I have to write 2500 words. ... Thank goodness for energy drinks. I'll be so glad when this is over!!!
So, that's my update. What's new with you? And why did you ask about blogging?
Ce
And here are photos of my birthday surprise!
1. Vanilla/vanilla cupcake from The Buttery, card and present from Aunt Sadie's!
2. There were supposed to be 24 candles but apparently we no longer have that many!
3. My googley-eyed penguin card and Mangiacotti Florals lavender soy candle with its cute little tin (Morton's matches mine).
The inside of the card says: Without you I just can't see straight!
Happy Birthday!!
I even found a card with a picture of me on the front!
Love,
John
P.S. Good thing we live close to all these cool stores :)
P.P.S. The pen you gave me works really well!
I did not, in the end, wear my new shoes--there would have been very little opportunity to show them off since I had only one class on Tuesday and was coming straight home to work on Galeano. :)
Neither did I wear them today, though that was the plan--because I just stayed home all day working on Galeano. I'm glad to report that as of 2 a.m. my review answered all the professor's questions and just exceeded the 2500-word minimum. I am SO glad to have that monkey off my back. I'm going to go to sleep, try to get to school early to slip my paper under the professor's door, attend class, and then work on my Fed interest rate articles for Macro (due in class at 4:35).
I'm still excited about the Tarte palette. :)
Time to go to bed. :)
