(no subject)
Well I finally made it to London. After getting lost from following dodgy directions that the Hostel gave me, when I finally got there, it was too early for me to check-in. So I put my baggage in the baggage room and set off to explore the place. As it turns out, there really isnt much open at 7:30am so I aimlessly strolled around taking pictures of everything I could see.
After sitting down and reading a book for about an hour in Trafalgar Square, I set off down The Mall towards Buckingham palace. As it turns out, today is the day that the Royal Family was having a private ceremony for Diana. I finally got my first look at the Queen and Prince Charles as they drove past us through the gates into the palace. I got some photos of the cars but I doubt that you would have seen anybody in it.
After that, I stolled down past the Guards Chapel where they were conducting the service then went and got some lunch. Got a pre-paid sim card for my phone but its fucking dodgy as. You cant make direct calls out using it. It has some stupid callback thing to make outgoing calls (plus I cant send random ppl SMSs).
Anyway, it's now 3pm and I should be able to go check-in to the hostel. Its been 2 days now since ive showered and I smell and feel grotty. Looking forward to a quiet night with loads of sleep.
Looks like im going to need to buy a new USB cable for my camera so I can tranfer pictures off it. Ill keep you posted on how that goes!
I am sorta looking forward to leaving London. It's not really a culture shock. It's just like going to Sydney except there are assloads more video cameras and police with MP5 machine guns. Off to Amsterdam on Monday unless I decide to go there earlier!
