I don`t know about you but I hate the mirror. I hate looking in it and seeing myself. But I know lots of people who are as vain as can be. They live by looking in the mirror. If the mirror didn`t exist they`d die. No exaggerations.

Which leads me to the perplexing thought:
"What if the mirror had never been invented?"

There would be no other way to find out what we looked like. Sure, I could look at you and describe you but I`d never know if I was hideous or gorgeous. I could never compare myself to you because my face would remain a mystery. Perhaps I`d assume that my face looks like my mother`s. No one could judge you and call you "ugly" because they could be even worse and not even know.

The media wouldn`t be able to urge us towards facial perfection. After all, why should I fix a face I can`t even see? How would I know what needs fixing? How would I know what I am touching? Where do I apply the makeup? And why would I trust someone to do my own makeup if I can`t see it and they can`t even do their own? You could never see your butt, back of your head, shoulders, back.

I wonder if you`d be curious to see yourself. How would you know that it was even possible to see yourself? Would you suppose that you have no features? Would you assume that you didn`t have a face- only eyes? Perhaps you wouldn`t care what you looked like. After all, no one else has seen it- why do you need to? If they can live in mystery then so can you, right?

Proposition to the World:
Let`s destroy every mirror and see what becomes of the following generations.

Good idea, right?
