Tia sprinted up the stairs to the dormitory, her long, black, feather-filled hair streaming out behind her. She loved running, it was as close to flying as you could get without leaving the ground.

She skidded to a halt and threw open the door before bouncing into her room. Mac was already there, sprawled out doing homework, and Tia could help but grin.

"Hi honey! I'm home!"

"You can't resolve a circadian multiplier by convergence, which means you need to try the divergence tests, so lemme go back to p. 342--" Mac mumbled to herself, barely registering that the door had opened. "Ahhh no! Antarchian factoring! I bloody hate Antarchian factoring!" she exclaimed, finding that the method she needed to use was one she detested.

Tia frowned slightly when Mac didn't even glance up. It looked like more rastic measures were called for...

"Cannon ball!" Tia launched herself at Macs bed.

"Argh!!" Mac cried in surprise, her homework and quills flying everywhere, her ink luckily safely capped on her nightstand. "You old nutter!" she exclaimed. "What'd you go and do that for?"

"You were ignoring me," She stated matter-of-factly, before gathering up Macs notes and things. "What'cho doing anyhow? Arithmancy? Barmy you are! This stuff makes me have eppys."

"I was ignoring you because I have homework to complete!" Mac grumped.

Tia glanced down at Macs paper and laughed.

"But you've finished this!" She looked at Mac closely and felt her forehead, a very serious look on her face. "Have you eating anything wonky today?"

"I was checking it over, if you must know!" Mac admitted. "I wanted to prove I'd got the bonus right. And I did!" she added smugly. "Well, as soon as I finish my Antarchian factoring, I will have done."

"And, no, I haven't eaten anything wonky. Have you?"

"Well, I ate this leaf with a spot on, but it should be fine." Tia began bouncing lightly on her knees. "You're a closed Ravenclaw you are! I can't understand half the malarkey you spout!"

"I'm a closet nothing!" Mac retorted, though the tips of her ears reddened slightly.

"Liar liar!" She gave her friend a light punch on the arm and grinned. "And I guess you're not anyones girlfriend either eh?"

"Liar? What are you on about?" Mac looked up, bemused, before swatting Tia back. "Have I mentioned that I hate you, wench?"

"Never you mind pudding." She tossed her head, the tiny bells ringing. "And more lies! As if you could ever hate me." She rested her head against Macs shoulder and looked at her Arithmancy over her shoulder. "It's like a bloody foreign language..."

Mac looked back over her shoulder at Tia and quirked an eyebrow. She carefully slid her papers back into her folder, and stowed her papers on the floor next to the bed before turning back around to her friend. "I think you'd quite take to Arithmancy if you cared to," she replied. "It's just nutty enough for you!"

"Numbers boggle me." She sighed. "Gwenog says I've a head like a sieve."

"Well, Gwenog's a nutter in her own right!" Mac laughed. "Anyway, she's no right to say things like that," Mac added, her face darkening with a small frown. Rarely was Tia down on herself, but Mac hated when anyone-- friend or family especially-- cast aspersions on Tia's brilliance because of her eccentricity.
