got back from New York last night...it was quite an experience...it's the largest city I've been to, EVAR!! we squeezed lots of touristy stuff in, got knick-knacks for peep's, got accosted by random rappers trying to push their self-produced albums on tourists, only saw two bums.....Allison's sister had a meltdown in Central Park because she missed her boyfriend and didn't want to be in New York...tried a cannolli, a black and white cookie, and a bagel with cream cheese and lox...we went to MOMA, saw elephant dung on a canvas, as well as Starry Night, some Warhol (overrated), Giacometti, Pollock, Dali, etc....I have a collection of blisters on my feet from ill-fitting shoes, my dad's flip-flops died in an unexpected way...Allison's relatives rock for the most part (her aunt kind of got on my nerves, but she meant well) her grandma kicks ass! Her cousins also rock my socks...two of them were extras in War of the Worlds (the new one) and her cousin Tracy's husband was in Toxic Avenger 4: Citzen Toxie...it was a bit part, but it's fine enough to say I know someone in a Troma movie...fuck yeah! he also has a collection of halloween music, which he made copies of for all of us...I am filled with glee!! oh yeah, we also went to Woodstock...the town, not the farm...it's filled with hippies, who own a shit ton of knick-knack and overpriced clothing shops down the main strip...I bought post cards, honey sticks, and incense matches there...myah! we didn't go to any bars in NYC, though I got a craving for a cold beer while visiting her relatives, which was pacified saturday night with some coors light (yeah yeah, it worked well enough for me) They don't sell pabst! even in Walmart! fuck! hmmmm....pinched the Book of Mormon from the hotel to read and giggle at, took up the better part of waiting at the airport and sitting on the plane to Seattle reading it...Allison's going to be lending me her bible with all of the inconsistencies and such already highlighted for my reading pleasure...fun will be had by all...
or at least by me...
ended up seeing Robbie last night, even thought we had to physically pull his battery out of his car to charge while we waited...he needs a new car...badly...very very badly...
I missed Washington, especially the weather...it was hot and muggy in NYC...90 degrees with 100% humidity or whatever...it wasn't too bad, but once we went to visit her relatives, it was hell because we had no destination, I'm ok with a destination, I can just ignore the heat until we get wherever we're going...I think the weather was doing it just to spite me...blargh...
to those of you who I didn't get a present for: sorry! I only had $140 to eat and buy gifts with...as it is, I got one or two things for everyone, expect for my mom since she has a shot glass collection (fancy!) and I found some good ones in the touristy spots I went...Robbie ended up getting a sucker shaped like the Statue of Liberty, a post card from Woodstock, and the rubbing I took of his family name on this wall of names on Ellis Island...nothing fancy...my grandma got a collectible spoon, dad got an NYPD shirt, that kind of thing...which reminds me, I still have Kristen's present that Allison bought, must give to her! I also have Jillian's purse, Erica's shot glass, and her mom's shawl that her grandma knitted...
anywho, that's enough for now...I may go back to bed...or perhaps find something to eat...I'm not sure yet....blargh
