I am not sure how widespread the news is, but Central Pennsylvania is flooded. Badly. We are currently undergoing the worst floods since at least 1972. In other words, I have never experienced floods of this severity

It's very sad about the bison, poor things. They were unfortunately in a low-lying area so the water came up much faster than in other parts of the park/zoo.
I am totally not used to this, to be honest. It just doesn't happen! We have power mostly since our wires are underground, but we're currently under a boil-water advisory because god knows what the state of the water/sewer pipes are. GREAT.
Yep! Our wires are underground and we live halfway up a hill, so we don't really have to worry about the water itself. Just the secondary indirect water issues. Such as being under a boil-water advisory and, uh, not being able to leave the house. I am so getting cabin fever already.
I kind of want to smack anyone who's blasting the ZooAmerica staff over the bison. Floods do not happen regularly here. Of course they have an evacuation plan, but of course they also believed it would never get as bad as it did, and the fact that they were able to move all the other animals out quickly and safely AND were able to humanely take care of the bison is a mark in their good books.
Most of the roads in Hershey and heading east (422 especially!) are pretty well destroyed. My grandparents have water in the basement and no power and are otherwise okay. It's just astounding how bad it got here. Everyone keeps comparing to Agnes in '72 and, well, that's definitely some historic flooding.
Way too much rain. Earthquake, hurricane and tropical storm, now floods... what the hell is happening on this coast. I'm kind of floored. At least the flooding waited until after my epic roadtrip, because this would've made for some serious problems otherwise.
But I am okay if stuck in the house and forced to boil water to brush my teeth with. :)
