So WMMR was doing a "fill-in-the-block" weekend for Memorial Day Weekend -- basically, they play two songs (a double-shot) from the same band and then you call in and pick the third to make a block. Well, when I was leaving Panera, they started up "Spin The Black Circle," and I was like, "oh that's a sweet way to start a Pearl Jam block", because I don't think I've ever heard WMMR play that one; then they played "Better Man" which is seriously the most overplayed PJ song of them all. And I'm driving and calling them because I want to suggest "Garden." They don't pick me, obviously, instead they go with some lady driving home with her husband from the beach and she goes and picks "Faithful." Way to fail at Pearl Jam, lady. D: There's dozens of really awesome songs and you go and pick "Faithful." Seriously. The best part of those "fill-in-the-blocks" or "complete-the-double-shot" that WMMR does is when someone picks a song that never gets played on the radio, or a cool live/acoustic version of a song. I'd've even accepted "Why Go" or "I Got Shit" for the third one, but "Faithful?" Please. They never take my suggestions, anyway; Matt Cord (the 7-11 deejay) does a block of Pearl Jam called "The Ten Club" right at 10pm, Monday-Thursday, and he never plays "Garden" when I ask. :( What do they have against "Garden", dammit?!
This reminds me I need to put more Pearl Jam on my iPod for next month. 30 days until PJ at the Garden! :D
