So I'm doing my part for the economy by spending on concerts. That'll keep us out of a recession, right? Tonight I saw Mika, which was an awesome show. Super-flamey crowd, although with a significantly younger median age than say a Rufus Wainwright show. Pete Wentz apparently doesn't have the market cornered on furry suits, since Mika and his entire band did the encore dressed as woodland animals. (This followed a vaguely pornographic shadow play to the the Teddy Bears' Picnic song.) He played just about the whole album (which is awesome and I totally recommend, hit me up if you want a listen), and covered "Missionary Man" by the Eurhythmics. (My friend saw him last spring and he covered "Sweet Dreams," apparently there's an Annie Lennox thing?)

There were some things I feel like I missed because I'm not as hooked in a fan--the significance of the giant skeleton puppet for one, but I was excited to see that he still has the super-hot female drummer who was so awesome when he played on So You Think You Can Dance last year. Every time I read a girl drummer story (and how awesome is bandom that there are enough of those that I can say every time?), I think of her. She kicks so much ass. Aha, the Internets inform me her name is Cherisse Osei, and she is 21.
