Work sucks, I know

My wonderful employers may lose half of their employees in one fell swoop, myself included.

Our closer, Kasey, put in her notice, not sure when, and that in itself called for some reshuffling of shifts and responsibilities. Cassie was co-director when she was hired, then demoted to Food Program director not too long ago, and now she's JUST a regular provider starting Monday, as they're hiring back Jamie as Food Program director.

Angie's happy, at least; she was hired to clean the daycare so the providers could focus on just the kids, but now she's doing that a bit AND working with the kids.

I haven't talked to EVERYone else yet, but Jamie is taking over the opening shift, so since I can't close (I have the paper route I have to do in the afternoon), I now work 11-ratio, which is probably around 3:30-4. So, I get maybe 4-5 hours a day. ??? Kellie's shift is all wacko again, and Mary's is too. I don't know what they're doing, but most people aren't happy with all the changes that they're forcing on us--especially since they haven't warned us, or anything.

Like, my boss called me the other day asking if I would be interested in closing from Monday onward, but I had to say I couldn't because of the paper route. I was never told that if I didn't do closing, I would have my hours cut in half.

It's ridiculous. They KNOW I'm saving up for a trip THIS FALL, and that I'm trying to earn as much money as possible. They have to know that halving people's hours is not okay unless the person explicitly says so. I'm already looking around for other part-time jobs, or full-time, if possible. I don't want to get stuck in this black hole of a job, again--all this stuff we're required to do, all the certification and classes we have to have, and we get paid minimum wage AND have our hours totally screwed with? Ugh.

That reminds me that I need to ask my boss about fingerprinting--they deducted the cost of a background check from one of my paychecks, and then in another one they deducted the cost of a fingerprint card and the check. Guess what? I never did any fingerprinting of any kind.

I offered to move in with my grandma; she's moving sometime in May, and needs the help packing and moving. She probably needs the company, too. She doesn't really eat much anymore, just enough to stay alive. Doesn't have much to pass the time, so she doesn't do very much.
We'll see what she says. I hope she says I can, because I like Dubuque and there is a much greater chance of me finding some sort of decent job up there, since there are so many more places to work, period.

I'm still sick. It sucks. Apparently some of the babies had RSV, which means I'm sure some of us do, too. On Monday, I think, half the freaking employees wouldn't come in because they had the flu. A couple of babies had double ear infections. Those of us who couldn't stay home, have had to suck it up and deal with it all week. I haven't felt poorly enough to really justify calling in once the other employees came back to work, but I haven't felt great, either. Just consistently bad. Headaches that alternate between feeling like sinus pain and something else, that ibuprofen (my go-to painkiller for practically everything) doesn't stifle; nausea off and on, occasional prickly throat and cough, and just all-around tiredness. I just want to sleep. For a long time.

And I can't, really. Tomorrow I get up early again to help Mom on her route, and rather than being able to relax all day after that, I have a mandatory class for work from 8 AM to 3 PM. And then Sunday, paper route, church, etc. At least I don't have to open Monday, but I may start helping Mom on the route every day. I dunno. I just want to sleep, and escape from all this responsibility for a while so I can feel better.
