Here is the auction in question:
http://nikui.livejournal.com/787857.html?view=6100881#t6100881 The seller's taken down some of my bids by now, but I've saved a copy of the page before she took them down, if you'd like to see it.
She screened our comments, to prevent other bidders seeing them, but here is a copy of our conversation.
Please see, in red and bolded, the gist of it, farther down the page.:

I e-mailed you - basically, I misunderstood! I thought we agreed that you could bid on the items and the offers would roll over for the second round bidding process. As mentioned, I'd only take them down for you and only you if you offered retail value.

Before I placed any bids, I wrote to ask permission to pay for anything I won in the first week of February. You said that I could bid and pay in February.
You did offer to take the items off the auction if I paid retail price. But I let you know that I preferred to bid, and you said that was alright.
I did win the items fairly, in the first round. I bid like everyone else. I just asked your permission to pay for what I won a few days later.

I'm very sorry but I didn't understand it that way. I understood it as bidding rolling over, and I'd only remove it from auction if you paid retail . If you no longer want the items that's fine, but I will be selling them to the highest bidder, end of story. Please don't lose sight of the fact that these are things I lovingly collected for years and spent many times the $$$ for. Let me know what you'd like to do.

I was the highest bidder, by end of the auction. Meisuku bid $15, and subsequently, I bid $18, at 11:56pm, 01/21/2011. Your stated terms were, "Item goes to the highest bidder by Friday, January 21 - 11:59PM PST," and I was the highest bidder, by 11:59pm, 01/21, for Items 1, 6, 19, 20, and 21. Please explain how I did not win these items, as the highest (and in some cases, the only) bidder.

This is what I told you:
"If you wanted to try to get the cds/dvd for lower, it looks like you're in pretty good shape to make offers on those during my second round, where I'll probably close bidding on Sunday, January 31 and ship out that week! Why don't you hold off? I'd take them off the listing now only if you wanted to offer retail."

I had the end date wrong but I did mean this Sunday, not last week. I understand if you want to pass on the items because of this, but we weren't on the same page, and my position for you and miesku stands.

Do you mean to say that you never intended to allow me to win the 1/21 auction, even though you said it was okay to bid?
Why would you tell me it was okay to bid, if you had no intention of honoring my bids? Why would anyone intentionally bid, under those terms, when it would only serve to drive up the price on an item you can’t win?
And now I find my bids haven’t been honored and that items I have already won, you want me to either forego or continue bidding against others for them, a second time!
Yes, you said as you quote, above. My response was: “About waiting till the second round ~ all of these items will go to the person who makes the highest bid for each of them, by 11:59pm, tonight [Jan.21], right? I was going to place bids by posting to the sales post this evening. I just needed your approval to pay for anything I win at the beginning of February, in order to be able to bid.”
Then, I asked you a couple of questions, trying to understand why you were suggesting waiting till the second auction, because I couldn’t understand it.
I said, “But shouldn't I bid tonight?[Jan. 21st] I'm sorry, I'm not sure why you're suggesting I wait. If I wait, maybe the items I want will be sold, and maybe for a price I would have bid higher than.”
And you replied, “Oh, I see your concern. Well if you're really sure you want what you're going to bid on, I guess it's okay!”
So, I bid and won some items. Isn’t that the end of the story?

The date in the first auction post didn't apply to you, because you couldn't pay within 24hours! [Note from Mme. H: This would have been true, except that she gave me the okay to bid with different payment terms.] I was under the idea that you were allowing your bids to get in there and roll over, so no one in the first round would nab those items! Miesuku bid under the same circumstances and got outbidded on something on the first round, so she lost it fair and square because she couldn't pay immediately, and it went to the first round highest bidder who could!
Look, I'm negating all your bids and just not selling to you. You refuse to understand my point, which is that I did not mean what you interpret; I would ONLY remove the items for you if you paid retail.
I'm not a store, I'm a personal collector and FAN, and I will KEEP my items and give them to a FRIEND before I deal with this kind of rudeness.

Nikui, how have I been rude to you? It's not controlling of me to expect to win an auction, when I'm the highest bidder, and when you've expressly said it was okay to bid.

And I've EXPLAINED that I meant as a roll-over bid, I have highlighted where I've said that time and time again, but you refuse to acknowledge this! You didn't WIN the items, you'd only have gotten them if you paid retail, I TOLD you this! If you refuse to except it and keep saying the same thing over and over again, that's rude, and it's a waste of my time to keep dealing with it!
Yeesh.

[end of conversation]
The seller never held any items aside for me or took them off auction. Everything remained for auction till end of that auction, 11:59pm PST, Jan. 21st. She never described the "roll-over bid" idea, until after the auction closed.
