If, in some bizarre fantasy scenario, I am at the edge of the apocalyse and lo, I find myself at the helm of this inevitable impending doom, I would play Patti Smith's "Gloria" (let's just assume that I would be capable of such a thing). In this fantasy, my performance would be electrifying, estatic. It would be karaoke to end worlds. Immediately following, just when you think we've reached a crescendo-- "Land." Ten minutes of possibly the most intense song ever. Everyone would be at a fever pitch, a writhing mass. Everyone and everything within a radius of me would be either bloodied or on fire.

And we would be sated.

We'd collapse. Quieted. The apocaplyse can wait for now.
