6, Shakespeare Recruiting, Soccer Saudi's and a Hand Job

Jul 30, 2006 22:21

Short story: Went to Shakespeare, got recruited for a soccer playoff game at the play, got into a car accident on the way to the soccer game, got a fat lip and new shoes - both for free, went home after a 6-0 win, slept, had dinner with my roommates, slept again.

-Sadie and I took 6th in our first event back in 3 months. We got our highest score ever, and were the highest scoring female handler team. Not too shabby. Maybe we'll take another 3 months off and see if we can get 1st.

-Went to Shakespeare in the Park with ece_drihten, feralkiwi and Benjamin where I learned two things:
*Shakespeare was a dirty, DIRTY old man. See this free show in the Common. Just do it.
*Taming of the Shrew works really well with Boston's North End (Italian section) as the setting.

-At said Shakespeare production, was recruited to play soccer for a co-ed league today. The team was so desperate for girl players they were reduced to search for players at SHAKESPEARE.

-Woke up early to head to the meeting place to catch a ride, meet up with feralkiwi, who was also recruited, and started for the soccer playoff match that we were going to play in. The team was 95% med students or Saudi soccer players.

-Got into a minor car accident in front of the "Po-Po". Our car was going to go through a yellow light, but didn't want to chance it with the police. The car lurched forward to go through the light, thought better of it, and hit the brakes. The car behind us, also part of our soccer team, was too busy looking at the "Po-Po to realize we stopped at the light. The driver hit some gravel and skidded into the car we were in. This day went from kinda funny to officially strangely humorous.

-We arrived all in one piece at the field. There weren't enough players for the girls to sub in and out since the requirement was to have 3 girls at all times on the field for each team. We played the entire 90 minutes in the grueling heat against perfectly conditioned, competitive soccer players. It was awesome.

-Took a shot to the face from a soccer ball. My lip is still really puffy and my head sort of hurts, but like I told the ref: one doesn't need their face to play the game.

-We won, 6-0, and apparently feralkiwi and I were good enough to earn an open invite through the rest of the playoffs. I felt pretty good about that. It was a great group of people we were playing with and was an excellent way to get back into the sport. It's been 10 years since I last touched a soccer ball, and 3 months since I've done any aerobic activity. I have to gloat a little in that the girls were all out there for the full 90 minutes, no subbing, running hard, and playing good Defense. Kiwi did some GREAT offensive work.

-Got a free pair of $125 cleats from one of the players who said they were a half a size too small for his feet. Conveniently, I happen to have a half sized smaller foot than said player. The next time we play, I'm getting his indoor shoes, which I'm pretty psyched about.

-Roommates had a dinner party. Favorite two quotes:
* Person 1 on girl with no arms: "The only thing she can't do ..."
Person 2: "Is give a hand job?"

* Mark: "You should name your dick Jesus"
* Q: "...because It Has Risen?"

-Got beer. Got bed. Got dinner. Going back to bed.
