Columbus?

So, on a whim and because Anne really sort of wanted an excuse to go (as did I), I went to Columbus, OH, for Origins . . .

Recap:
Thursday: was asked by Anne if I was interested (said yes).
Friday: Packed. Went to the Milwaukee game.
Saturday: Around 12:30 AM left Milwaukee for Columbus. Arrived to the con at around 8:30 AM (in OH). Was able to borrow a room to nap and take a shower. Larped!
Sunday: Exhausted and barely able to keep myself awake for more than a few hours at a time, left Columbus at around 12:30 AM (in OH) for Milwaukee.

All in all it was WAY worth it.

Origins was actually pretty nice. The Con itself was interesting, though I refused to buy anything and there were only about three stands for used books. However, I did see a lot of interesting things, including a booth for Warhammer Online (an official one!) though I've decided I don't really want to play another MMORPG. Still, it was cool, as were a whole number of booths (there were two selling GORGEOUS corsets). The larp itself was great. I basically entered and went straight to a clan meeting where we decided we're going to make a mecha-Shade -- (we will make him faster, stronger!) -- along with send one another contact details. I also did a few things . . . for some reason, I was really channeling Alysia that night, all of her feelings (I nearly cried during the Nos meeting when discussing our losses in the region) and a bit of her anger (more on that later). Shade and I finally talked for a small bit, as did Tasha and I. For the most part, I was glued to the Nos (and I'm thinking I might either get status or Nos Prestige, as I really did everything I could for the clan).

The highlight for me, though, was the Chess Match between Justicar Cock Robin and Justicar Patroneus (sp?) . . . ha ha. The game changed several times, it seems, and eventually it became a game of one and one, in defense of a square, with six pawns, a queen, and a king for each side. The game was to alternate between defending the square and pushing the person out of the square (essentially, the point was to push the opposing team out of the square until there were no pieces). Ha ha. And guess who got to be the first piece for his Avian Excellency . . . ?

Me. Yeah. Little piddly ol' me.

And I beat about half their team. Cock Robin himself had to tell me to lose before I beat too many, apparently, and it looked like we were overpowered, since the game was supposed to be fair. Seriously, why can't I lose chops when I need to? (As opposed to winning chops when I need to . . . that never happens either.) The opposing Archon was completely baffled and I just glared at every person who came to contest the square from me. I was just determined, I don't know where it came from but umm we played to win.

There were other things I did but I'm not going to tell what they are publicly, since they're a really sensitive items that I'm not sure where they will be going. Plus, they are clan stuff.

I had fun/interesting talks, also, with L.L., Francis Merivein, a young Brujah, Prince Valentine, and a lot of others. I was supposed to have a meeting with the Baron Samedi but I got so busy with the Clan that it didn't happen.

There are other thoughts I have on the whole adventure, too, but they're not as fun . . . :P It was a good time, though, I will assure you of that. Maybe next year, depending on how things go with life and etcetera, I will go to Origins for the full time.

P.S. - No, I'm not dating anyone. I'm serious when I say I'm avoiding relationships beyond friendships . . . I just need to straighten myself out a whole lot. A whole, whole lot.
