Interfering with cars for money!

Sep 06, 2007 13:15

In a rather nice change from normal soul-draining work, all of us girls who work in the Customer Services department in the garage got taken down to the Phoenix Honda garage in Grangemouth for a few hours yesterday.

Turned out my manager Amy and the service manager at Grangemouth had been chatting about what actually gets involved in a service and MOT - all of us get asked this at least once a day and none of us have the first clue what does what, where and how often it needs checked, making us look like utter twunts on the phone. The service manager was appalled, took pity on us all, told us to come down to him and he and his head technician showed us how the engine, brakes, suspension, radiator and oil works, how it fits together, and how often it all gets checked and changed.

This is actually more fun than it sounds. Trust me!

So, we got a few hours off work, which was obviously nice. We also learned how a car engine works, which was bloody helpful. Then the service manager had an idea - some time next week, all of us girls are going off in groups of two to Grangemouth for the day, and we'll get taught how to do services and MOT for ourselves! At the mechanics' rate no less, which is something like £7.84 with benefits.

Basically, we get to be grease monkeys for a whole day!

This is so many kinds of awesomes.

Also, our shower's FINALLY fixed. Wheeeeey!!!

Oh, and R.I.P. Big Pav - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6981032.stm
