First of all, we finally got a snowfall - at least 7" - and it is beautiful! Spent the morning shoveling out Jeff's house with him, and it felt good to do some physical labor for a change. I have been stuck in my head way too much, ever since I hung up my bicycle for the season. It is so nice to look outside and see all the wintry sparkles on everything.
Second, I have wonderful news! I learned on Thursday that I have a new job! After months of keeping my ear to the ground at the University, I have been hired by the Student Legal Services as their legal secretary - woo hoo! I was feeling discouraged after finishing up two years of study at the business school and not finding anything that sounded like a good fit for me. This job is absolutely perfect - I will be working with actual students at last, something I have wanted to do ever since I started at the U. The Legal Services office is like legal aid for students - they handle landlord/tenant, immigration, small claims, domestic issues; whatever students need legal help with. I have mixed feelings about leaving my present job. The folks I work with are really quite amazing; bright, honorable, ethical, amusing and friendly. You can't ask for much more than that in life, but I don't want to pass up this perfect opportunity. Especially when it comes time to pay back those student loans, it will be much easier knowing that I am actually applying my degree. I start in two weeks, and I can hardly wait.
What a new year, eh? New job, new hubby, new house, new name...I think that this is enough change, even for me. I will now roll up my sleeves and process it all and try to do a good job at everything.
Lillian should be in Jordan about now. It is 8 hours later there, and she was due in at some ungodly hour, like 2 a.m. I'm sure they will have excellent adventures. I will pray for their safety in all their travels and wanderings.
