My dearest
galacticvoyeur is on a road trip to Pittsburgh to visit his family and help his mom with her house. So far he has experienced a near-tornado and narrowly missed the Furries convention. With entertainment like that, why leave home, you may ask? He has been planning this trip for quite some time and was derailed back on Easter weekend by the flu and the blizzard of '08. So this trip he got to go to his niece's graduation party and will be surrounded by brothers and in-laws and nephews and more nieces this week, so I think they are going to have a grand old good time.
I was wondering how I would fill my days in his absence. I needn't have worried, however. Since Friday I have:
Attended the Columbia Heights parade;
Put anti-glare film on the back door window;
Cleaned the kitchen windows (really!);
Built tensegrity structures in the garden (bean poles; I am quite proud of them. No hardware was used in the building of these bean poles, and at the end of the season I can just take them apart and store the pieces);
Washed/dried/folded/put away 6 loads of laundry;
Walked the dog many times;
Gone to a movie (Wall.E - highly recommend it);
Harvested spinach, asparagus and three kinds of peas;
Defrosted the freezer;
Almost completed a new painting and started another;
Picked up a few more plants for the garden;
And probably more - just can't think of it right now.
The strangest thing so far since he left is not speaking. I get a lot more done if I am mute. But it is weird, so sometimes I have to call someone or confide in the dog. She is very understanding, although she is trying to figure out what has become of her master. I took her for a ride Saturday night downtown, just to see the sights. She rather enjoyed it, especially the part about sticking her head out the window. I wouldn't let her drive, though. I have my limits. And yes, I do keep my head firmly inside the window. Well, except when I have the sunroof open, sometimes I pop up.
He should be back Sunday afternoon. Doesn't sound that far away now!
