I am still reeling from the AFSCME strike at the University. We were out for 2.65 weeks and I am still having nightmares about President Bruininks and his minions. This is so sick. I just want to show up at work, do a good job, get paid a decent wage, and have a few benefits. Now that the strike is behind us, and we did NOT get what was coming to us, I am very displeased with my workplace. I am a very competent legal secretary, if underutilized. I start to foam at the mouth when I see that way this University spends its money. Today in the Star Tribune there was a 1/2 page ad for the place. Now, we are a public, land-grant state university. Do they really need to pay for color advertising? And where DID that money go that our union lobbied for and received from the Legislature? I am actively seeking employment elsewhere. If and when I receive a better offer, I will take it. And if I don't, I am sure that this will fade into history and I will find the happy place that I used to inhabit. The people I work with are very nice and it could be a lot worse, so I should just behave and count my blessings.
