Carcassonne: That's a lot of expansions

Nov 26, 2006 00:38

Those of you who've been over for a game night recently will almost inevitably have played Carcassonne with us. I know a good few of you own your own copy. So, here for your entertainment, is the end of the game Bethany and I just played this evening, using:
  • Carcassonne (the core game)
  • Carcassonne: The River
  • Carcassonne: The Count
  • Carcassonne: The River 2
  • Carcassonne: Inns & Cathedrals
  • Carcassonne: Traders & Builders
  • Carcassonne: The Princess and the Dragon

The small table with yet more tiles on it was used for overspill, rather than try to shift all the tiles around as the game expanded out farther than we'd intended. Final scores, 294 to 256, and I won (but barely). For those who're used to playing the basic game, we normally only barely reach 70 points each. Final conclusion: it was kind of fun, but by the time you're using all those expansions, there are a few too many rules, and the simplicity of the game that makes it fun is somewhat lost. Still, it did look impressive once we were done.

Also, Bethany has decided it's Christmas.

So, season's "it's way too early for that!"
