If anyone's ever wondered why it always seems to take me months to get my surround sound etc. all set up, this should give you an idea:

[edit] Awesome. I've run the cable box into the amplifier via a digital audio coax cable. We have "radio" stations on there that I tend to ignore, but... they sound amazing run through this. A day's worth of pain and frustration may well end up being worth it.
