I've been skimming over different analysis of this for a while, but Juan Cole has finally stepped in and done a comprehensive piece on how petty politics and the need of the Bush administration for positive publicity during the Democratic National Convention may have led them to blow the cover of the only double agent we have ever had in Al Qaeda. And incidentally, one connected with the individuals who carried out the London Bombing. While you can't say for sure that blowing this cover caused the bombings, it's hard not to feel that it was a contributing factor - we would have caught these bastards before it happened otherwise. We already know Rove is willing to blow covert intelligence assets for petty political payback. Now he may have blood on his hands too.
