Notes: Completely un-beta-ed and my first Middleman Fanfic, so critique would be great.
“Dubbie you haven’t spoken a word since you got into the car” At any other day she would have taken the ride home talking in stride. Today she was still mostly drenching in that sickening smell of exploded ass like experiment. Wendy let her thoughts mull through her brain and she couldn’t think of anything to say.
“Are you alright?” She registered his words and then the usual feel of the car pulling over, but it wasn’t at her illegal sublet she shared with her best friend Lacey.
“Im fine, boss…” She trailed off as she noticed they pulled over almost halfway there. “Are you okay?” She looked at Middleman questioningly.
Middleman pushed his seat back a little and then there was a click and the car started to fill with a green like fog then it slowly dissipated.
“Oh [BLEEP][BLEEP]” Wending started saying as she recognized what it was.
“Gadzooks” Middleman said with a shocked look on his face. “Ida must have forgotten some Truth bombs in the MiddleCar, Jeez Louise…”
“I love you” Wendy burst out all of the sudden then looked horrified at what had said out loud.
“I try not to, you know, but I just cant stop. I try so hard because I love this job and what I do. I really don’t want to lose this job because of my feelings for someone.” Wendy started scooting as far away from Middleman as she could get without just plain getting out of the car..
“Okay” Was his only response to what she said, he had kept looking forward after he had picked up the truth bomb and set it on the dash board.
“You wouldn’t understand where I am coming from, because you aren’t in love with your partner or anything, am I right.” Nothing could prepare her for Middleman’s answer to her roundabout question.
“I am”
