Misery's team has gotten off to a spectacular, bloody start since Logan's return to the fold. Three months of violent missions, with no surviving targets and lots of bloodshed and rivalry.
Everything between Victor and Logan had become a competition and it was quickly reaching a point of ultimate confrontation.
Crouched low in the shadows Logan grinned to himself as he scented the air because he had won again. He had tracked their target before Victor, and he'd be the one to finish the mission, which would certainly please Misery.
Watching the target approach and waiting for his moment, Logan found himself wondering why it was so important to earn her approval when she would just as easily give it to Victor. It was only a small thought, barely stealing into his mind as he waited, and he hardly gave it much focus.
Only in the field when he was away from her would he have thoughts like it, aimless wonderings that made him begin to question things and examine himself and his surroundings. They'd get stronger the longer he was out on a mission, but upon completion of the task and the return to base he'd be lost again and would forget all about any misgivings.
Still, as he locked eyes with the man he was about to kill, he had the smallest hesitation, questioning why he was about to do what he was doing to this stranger, before stabbing him through the chest and gut.
