Summary :
Yamada always love his childhood friend, Aiyami Rei. Rei is a bright girl with a cheerful personality. Yamada’s world falling apart after Rei’s departure. Rei dies because of colon cancer and she donor her heart to Chinen Yuri, a patient who also treated in the same hospital.
One day before her departure, Rei told Yamada that she will have a surgery, but she didn’t tell Yamada that it’s a surgery to donor her heart to Chinen. Yamada thought that she’ll have a surgery to get rid of her cancer cells. Thus, Yamada was very shock when he come to the hospital and see Rei’s mother cry, he thought that Rei’s surgery is failed. But when he asked Rei’s mother, she said that the surgery was success, but of course it means that Rei already die because her heart already given to Chinen. (PS: Rei’s mom finally agree to let Rei donor her heart after talk to her doctor who said that Rei already on the last stage and just a miracle could help her. And also that after Rei do some check, her heart is compatible with Chinen’s)
Meanwhile, Chinen Yuri is a son of a rich family. He already have a fiancé ever since his birth and that’s Kawashima Umika, a daughter of his parents business colleague. He has a heart disease and haven’t feel how to live a normal life ever since then. He can’t go to school when he reach his 17th and forced to be hospitalized because his condition is worsening and he need a heart donor as soon as possible. That happened one year before he met Rei.
2 years has passed...
Yamada already become a sophomore in the university, he take Law as his major eventough he actually always loved and talented in arts. He leave arts ever since Rei’s departure because whenever he draw, it makes him remember of her. She was his favourite object to draw.
Chinen get into the same university but he’s one year under Yamada (he’s a freshman in the uni because of his absent for one year in high school). Chinen meet Yamada in the university library.
Yamada who never draw again after Rei’s departure, suddenly feels like drawing when he sees Chinen sleeping face beside him (Chinen sleep on a thick book inside the library XD). He leave the paper where he draws Chinen’s face on the table and when Chinen’s waken up by the librarian who warn him about the closing of the library, he found that paper. Chinen ask the librarian who sit beside him and the librarian who already familiar with Yamada told Chinen about it, she even give Yamada’s library card to make Chinen see his face.
Chinen suddenly feels “doki-doki” when he see Yamada’s photo. He never felt his heart pounding like that; it’s really warmth and give him a sweet and tickle sensation he never felt before. So after that, he always come to the library to looking for Yamada. Chinen knows Yamada’s schedule to the library from the librarian. Whenever awaken from his sleep, he will found a paper of Yamada’s drawing his sleeping face beside him. Chinen finally realize that he has fallen to Yamada.
While Yamada on the other hand feels something different happening to him whenever he see Chinen’s sleeping face (he didn’t even know Chinen’s name yet). It’s like another him awaken when he see Chinen. He also feel an affection start growing within him toward the other guy, and he knows that’s wrong. He is not a gay to begin with.
Yuto take a big role to introducted Yamada and Chinen formally. Yuto is Chinen’s senpai in an organization and he’s Yamada’s only friend in the uni. Yamada and Chinen get closer with the help of Yuto.
Three years death ceremony of Rei. Yamada come to Aiyami’s household. Rei’s mother welcome him. After he pray infront Rei’s altar, Rei mom offer him to drink and said that the family of the recepient of Rei’s heart also come earlier, she told Yamada that the recepient also accepted in the same uni as him and his name is Chinen Yuri.
Yamada avoided Chinen for the upcoming days after that. Chinen and Yuto realize it. Yuto ask Chinen to visit Yamada at his boarding house in the weekend. Chinen hesitate at first but he finally come along. Yuto leave Chinen and Yamada alone after they reach to Yamada’s boarding house, he say that he want to buy some soda but he reject Chinen who want to go along and say that he will come back soon. An awkward weather happened inside the room when Yamada left with Chinen. When Yamada stand up to leave the room, Chinen finally put all his effort to hug Yamada from behind, he cry there. And well, they finally make up there. Yamada say sorry to Chinen and say that he finally found “the answer of his heart”.
Finally he say I LOVE YOU to Chinen and they KISSED (*jumping in happiness* ^3^)
Yuto see the scene from the space of the door, and leave silently, he glad that Yamada finally can move on from his first love.
Now, Umika take a role to ruin Yamachii’s relationship. Chinen bluntly say to her that he’s dating Yamada and that’s why he didn’t want to go out with her anymore as a fiance and fiancé, he want to break their engagement. Chinen even run from his house and live with Yamada when his parents object his statement about breaking the engagement.
Umika were really shock by Chinen’s action. She asked someone to search for everything about Yamada’s background and she found that Yamada was in love with the heart donor of Chinen. She thought Yamada only want to have a revenge on Chinen who take the life of someone he loved. So, Umika give all the data she gather to Chinen. At first, Chinen didn’t believe her.
But one day when he is cleaning Yamada’s room (as all a good wife will do XD), he found a box which filled by many sketch book. It was the sketch book of Yamada’s drawing Rei’s face. All the books, every single page of it filled by that very same face, under it, Chinen can see the name of the owner of that face; Aiyami Rei. Chinen checked the files he get from Umika and see the name of his donor; Aiyami Rei. His tears started flowing and his heart suddenly feels so tight, he collapsed. Yamada who found him already faint on the floor, run like crazy to bring him to the nearest hospital. The doctor told that his body is rejecting the heart. There’s nothing wrong with the heart nor his body, but seems like there’s something on his mind that keep rejecting the heart from his body, it’s a psychological problem.
Yamada can’t afford Chinen’s hospital fee; he endaring himself to face Chinen’s family to ask for help. In the replacement, Chinen’s parent asked him to leave Chinen and never show himself ever again. He accept it but he’ll do it after his graduation ceremony which is just two day again.
Umika didn’t believe that Yamada will do that without any resistance, she faced Yamada and asked him why he agree to that. Yamada’s answer is simple: “Because I love him” (*melting* //.\\) . She then realize that she misjudge Yamada.
Yamada leave his boarding house after his graduation ceremony. He throw a letter he was about to send to Chinen and also a sketchbook which filled by Chinen’s picture, his newest sketchbook. Umika secretly take it.
Meanwhile Chinen on his sub consciousness, meet with Rei.

C : Who is there?
R : Chinen-kun, you have to be awake soon or u might loose someone precious
C : Who are u? *suddenly a girl appear* You..

Chinen open his eyes suddenly inside the hospital room. He see his mother and Umika with several doctor and nurses around him. “Where’s Ryosuke?” is his first words. When the doctor finished the check up. His mother come and tell him that Ryosuke leave him after she give him some money. She tell lies and badmouthing about Ryosuke. Chinen is too weak to talk back to her. Umika then cut Mrs. Chinen and say that Chinen need some rest. Mrs. Chinen then leave Chinen to Umika.
Umika started to tell the truth about Ryosuke’s leaving, she give Chinen the things Yamada throw on his trashcan before he go to a place she didn’t know where.
After recover, Chinen go to Yamada’s old boarding house, he lent the old Yamada’s room and decor the room just like when it is before Yamada leave.
Meanwhile....
Yamada reach a small city he never been before. There, he met an old woman who is a head of an orphanage. She has a problem; The orphanage were build by the richest man in that city and now when that man die, his son want to take back the land where the orphanage were built. Yamada help old lady to keep the orphanage and save the kids by taking that case to the court. He win the case and after that he keep living in the orphanage with the kids. He work here and there to keep the money for the kids.
One night the owner asked him why he come to that small city, she was sure enough that Yamada can be more successful in the main city.
Yamada told her, “There’s someone who I love so much. And the only way to help that person is to leave...”
“Did you already asked her about it?”
“The person I love is also a man,” the lady stopped, Yamada smiled understanding the situation.
“Then, he must be a great person. Because you’re also a great person, I believe that he’s also a great person,” she finally said.
“Yes, he is..” Yamada said as he keep staring at the sky, thinking that maybe Chinen is also looking at it from a different place.
“There’s something u haven’t finished there, aren’t it?” the lady asked.
Yamada blinking, “How could...”
“Your face answered it all,” the lady cut him.
Yes, he haven’t explain clearly about Rei to Chinen. He knows that he’s also at fault; he kept on telling himself that there’s no need for Chinen to know about Rei. And he already proven it wrong.
Yamada take a train to go to Tokyo on the next day. He didn’t know why, but he feels like going back to his old boarding house. He meet the owner and greet him. After that, he stand infront of his old room’s door, remembering all the moment he had with Chinen there.
“Ryo...” he hear that familiar voice and after that he feel the familiar warmth hugging his body. Yes, his Chinen Yuri is back into his arms.

Yamada take Chinen to the small city. The old lady welcome them warmly also the kids. One of the kids get into Chinen’s nerve; she’s clearly shown that she dislike Chinen and she also say to Chinen that she often taking a bath with Yamada.
Fortunately Yamada can sense the bad aura between the liitle girl (named Ai) with Chinen. He took Ai away and let Chinen talk with the old lady.
Chinen see a little girl who is left in the corner while the other are so hyper to greet Yamada who is finally back. Chinen walk to that little girl and squat infront of her. The little girl suddenly smile and offer her lollipop to Chinen. The old lady spotted it. She said that Chinen is amazing to make her smile. That little girl is still new in the orphanage and she didn’t mix up well with the other kids.
The little girl open her arms to Chinen; asking for a hug. Chinen do so and lift her on his arms. “What’s your name, little girl?” he asked. The girl gift a signal to bring her closer to the wall where the alphabetical paper were pasted.
She pointed R-E-I...
“Rei...” Chinen said softly and the girl smiled sweetly to him and Chinen replied her smile.
“Thank you,” Chinen said silently.
And then Yamada and Chinen adopted Rei and live happily
