Sungmin frowned as he walked away from Kyuhyun. Although he felt very disappointed, he wasn't angry. He knew it wasn't Kyuhyun's fault for not caring. That's just the way he is, and he can't help it.
He sighed. He felt bad for snapping at him. The look of sheer terror on Kyuhyun's face was enough to make him regret doing so. God, I- Why do I have to be an idiot sometimes? Sungmin was worried. This was very unusual for him. To snap at people. And of all the people it could've been, it just had to be Kyuhyun, the person he cherished the most his best friend.
Sungmin took out his phone as he reached his aunt's apartment. He dialed her number and waited.
She picked up. "Hello?"
"Auntie~ I'm downstairs~ Please open the door for me~," he just couldn't help but be aegyo when talking to his aunt.
"You are? So fast! Alright, I'll be right down."
"Thank you auntie~ I love you~"
"Omo~ I love you too! Bye!"
Sungmin hung up as he waited at the front door. When the door opened, Sungmin saw his smiling aunt, and he squealed "Auntie~!", glomping her. Taken by surprise, she nearly fell to the floor.
"Sungmin~! Why must you tackle me every time you see me?" she started to laugh.
"I'm sorry auntie, but I'm just so happy to see you!" Sungmin hugged her tighter.
"Aww~ It's so cute how you get so excited whenever you see me, but um, Sungmin?"
"Yes?"
"How much longer are you going to be hugging me?"
"Oh! Right! Um... Sorry, " he let go of her, somewhat embarrassed.
"No, it's ok! It's just that I'm kind of in a hurry to buy the groceries, so when I come back, you can hug me all you want!"
"Yay~!"
Sungmin's aunt moved aside. "Well, come in! We can't stand here forever, can we?"
He giggled as he walked into her home. After closing the door, she followed after him. Sungmin walked into the living room and saw a little girl sitting on the floor. When she saw him, she squealed and jumped up and down.
"Sunmin!" she cried out.
Sungmin laughed. She still couldn't pronounce his name correctly. He walked over to her and picked her up.
"Hi Eun Mi~ And how are you today?" he cooed.
"Hiiiii~ Eun Mi's gweat and wants pway!" she grinned.
Sungmin laughed some more. It was just too funny; how she kept mispronouncing words.
His aunt looked at them admiringly.
She spoke up, "You know, she never gets that excited when she sees me. I'm kinda jealous now, hehe."
Sungmin looked back at his aunt. "That's 'cause I'm her favorite~ And don't be jealous, you have me~"
She smiled. "Do you want something to eat? Something to drink?"
"No auntie, but thank you~"
"Alright then. Well, if you need anything, just call me." she walked over to give him the spare key to the apartment. Then she put on her coat, and opened the door, ready to leave.
Sungmin nodded as she closed the door.
He put Eun Mi down and patted her head. "Eun Mi, you want to play, right?"
She beamed at him. "Yesh! Wants pway~!"
"Alright. Well, get ready to leave, ok? I'll bring you to the park!"
"Yay! Park! Eun Mi like!"
Sungmin patted her head again. He walked her to the coat rack and grabbed her coat, helping her put it on. He opened the door and motioned for Eun Mi to go out. After closing the door, they started walking towards the park; the same one Sungmin and Kyuhyun were in a while ago.
Eun Mi looked up at Sungmin. "Sunmin?"
"Yes?" he answered.
"Sunmin seem sad today."
Sungmin smiled, an attempt to conceal his true feelings. So even she can tell... "Really? Why do you think that?"
She shrugged. "Dunno. Just do."
Sungmin could see that she was starting to become sad over him. "Eun Mi, don't worry. I'm not sad."
Eun Mi stared at him, seemingly able to see through his facade, but she looked away in acceptance, knowing Sungmin didn't want to talk about it.
When they reached the park, Eun Mi ran towards the swings, eager to feel the wind rushing through her hair. Sungmin trailed closely behind. She tried to climb onto a swing, but couldn't, her height being an disadvantage. Then Sungmin came to the rescure, carrying her onto the swing.
She frantically flailed her arms. "Sunmin! Push! Eun Mi want fly~!"
"Ok~ Here I go~," he chuckled, gently pushing her.
"Higher! Higher!"
Sungmin obliged, and soon, Eun Mi swinging high into the sky, or at least, she assumed she was.
"Whee! So fun! Eun Mi fly~," she squealed in excitement.
~
"So," Sungmin started. "Did you have fun today?"
Eun Mi grinned. "Yesh!"
"Good. We're going home now, ok? Your mom's gonna be back soon."
"Ok~"
They continued walking towards her home. After reaching it, Sungmin took out the spare key his aunt gave him earlier, and opened the door. They walked in, and Sungmin helped Eun Mi take off her coat. Putting it back on the coat rack, he led her to the living room, and they sat down on the couch. At that very moment, Sungmin's aunt opened the door, carrying a lot of bags. Sungmin rushed over to help her carry them to the kitchen.
"Why, thank you, Sungmin! Always so helpful~," she smiled at him.
He beamed at the praise. "No problem, auntie. Any time!"
He went back to the couch, where Eun Mi was already watching TV.
Sungmin's aunt called from the kitchen, "Thanks a lot for taking care of Eun Mi while I was gone. I'm sorry if you had any plans beforehand."
Sungmin thought about the time he spent with Kyuhyun. He decided it wasn't that important. We just hung out. We can do that any time. "No. It's ok. I wasn't busy."
His aunt seemed to be content with his answer.
However, she suddenly spoke up again, "Oh, I forgot to mention this to you before, but your father called earlier."
Sungmin froze. My father...? Sungmin hated him for leaving their family when he was young.
"Sungmin?" his aunt started to worry.
"I'm sorry. I don't know who you're talking about."
"Sungmin... He said he was sorry, and that he wanted to se-"
"I said, I don't know who you're talking about."
"Sungmin! The man's clearly changed! He's not the same person he was before, before he..."
"Before he left us and made our lives a living hell!"
Eun Mi suddenly looked up at his sudden change of tone.
Sungmin quickly stood up. "Look, I've told you before not to bring him up! So why are you doing this to me?"
"Just... just give him a chance. He's changed. He really has."
"You've met with him, haven't you?"
"... Just onc-"
"You know how I feel about him! You know what I went through after he left! What he put me through! Me and... me and..."
"Sungmin, I'm sorry you feel that way, but people can change. He changed! And you can too; the way you feel about him."
"No! You don't understand! You, you- You traitor!"
Sungmin's aunt gasped. "S-Sungmin!"
In a fit of anger, Sungmin started to walk towards the door. He couldn't take it anymore. He's taking everyone away from me. Again.
His aunt tried to stop him, "Wait! Where are you go-"
Sungmin continued walking. "Leave me alone! I don't need you to worry about me. I don't need you, I don't need anyone."
He reached the door, and both his aunt and Eun Mi winced when he bitterly slammed it.
Eun Mi turned to her mother. "Umma."
She flinched. "H-hmm?"
"Is Sungmin ok?"
"I don't know. He needs time to figure things out. He's still confused."
"Mmm. I hope he feels better."
"Me too, Eun Mi. Me too."
"Umma."
"Yes?"
"Do you know what we did today?"
"What did you do?"
Eun Mi smiled. "We went to the park."
"Did you have fun?"
"Kind of. I enjoyed playing on the swings, but..."
"Eun Mi..."
"When can I stop acting in front of him? I'm tired of lying to him constantly. I'm tired of keeping this up. He doesn't deserve this. He needs to know the truth."
"I know, I know. Soon. But not now. He must not find out. He's obviously very stressed out right now, and he definitely doesn't need to lose another joy in his life."
Eun Mi sighed. "He's been through so much... Why can't he find any peace in his life?"
Her mother came over to comfort her. "Because it's not the right time for peace to come along."

A/N: Omg... I'm kinda disappointed with this chapter. xD
I wrote it when "writer's block" came at the wrong time. ;____;
Wells, even though it's not as good as I wanted it to be, please enjoy~
I shall try to make up for this sucky not-so-good chapter by trying to update soon~ :'D
Here's a hint for Chapter 4~: Sungmin's past is next! >8'D
And yesh, Eun Mi is actually a genius. xD
(9/26/10) Edit: Just to clarify for those who don't understand, Eun Mi is actually a genius baby, but she's hiding it from Sungmin. In this chapter, she's asking if she can tell Sungmin about her smartness (lol), and her mother/Sungmin's aunt, is telling her to wait because it's not the right time to tell him. There's nothing different about Eun Mi, compared to other babies, just that she has more intelligence. :]
And silent readers~ don't be afraid to comment~ I welcome all comments (as long as they're nice please ^w^) at any time~ :]
Thanks for reading!~ :'D ♥
