Oh, sweet, I found a place off post that has free uncensored wireless.  The government likes to censor the crap out of what you can see on post, and sometimes even regular news sites will be temp blocked because some story had too many "naughty" keywords in it.

Lawton, the town outside of the base, is a pretty small town.  There's not that much to do here, aside from a few bars, movie theaters, great military discounts, etc.  Some time I'll have to cruise all the dozens of pawn shops and see if anything worthwhile is going for cheap.  The first 4 things off post are 2 pawn shops, a sex toy store, and a fast food joint.

I saw Transformers last night.  It was entertaining.  But goddamn, it could have done with less really, really cheesy jokes/scenes.  It's also pretty hard to think of a more cliche lovestory in any movies I've seen recently.  A nerdy guy gets a super hot girl who used to be the jock's girlfriend.  Also, she's ashamed of her poor family/family history, yet the nerd looks past that!

But hey, whatever, giant robots shot the piss out of each other and raped entire military bases off the face of the earth within minutes.

Oh, yeah, there also was the problem of an almost jar jar binks esque decepticon who could have been cool if he'd just been a silent, sinister spy type instead of some bumbling retard.  Also, you'll notice a common theme.  Michael Bay does not believe that humans have ANY peripheral vision at all ever.

Oh, and obviously the cars are all product placement.  But hilariously, so is everything else in the movie ever.  Oh, well.  Still worth my $5 for a primetime showing.

Given that there's not much to do when you aren't working here, I've read about 400 pages in 3 days or so in addition to playing a game of Risk, playing cards, listening to music and glazing over as I watch milkdrop for hours, watchings movies/TV, and of course doing PT on your own time, because you ought to and because there's nothing better to do than run a few miles while baking under the Oklahoma sun.

I continue to get very mixed reviews about my eventual destination where I'll probably be for at least a year or two:  El Paso, Texas.  Some love it or at least say it's fine and there's nothing wrong with it.  Other complained that the bars weren't up to their standard, but I'm not huge on going to bars anyway.  What concerns me is those who say it's hard to live there for more than a year without having your car stolen or at least broken into.  I'll need to get a decent safe for my firearms as well as a decent pump shotgun with a nice forend light so I can blind the shit out of a burglar while I illuminate him/her if need be.  No such protection for cars, though.

This 3 or 4 year old boy nearby has been spinning nonstop for a few minutes now and he's having difficulty standing for more than 15 seconds before he crashes, often face-first, into the ground.  His face is getting kind of pale and I think he might puke soon.  He is also informing those around him in garbled speech that he is very tired.  Sometimes people wonder why I don't ever want kids.

Anyway, I'll probably try to post an update every weekend or so, since most every weekend I'll have enough time to drop in for the free internet for an hour or two.
