I'm posting my mom's email because the idea of rewriting all this and not crying is not likely.
"Some of you know some of this info already, some have
no idea.
Jeanne and Steve are our friends of some fifteen years
from Hatboro, originally from Rochester, NY. They
have two children, Dan 18 who will be heading to
college in two weeks and Susanne, 15, who is entering
her sophomore year at Abington Friends. They often
came to our 4th of July picnic and we have spent
several New Year's Eves at their home.
Steve is an avid cyclist and he was in a cycling
accident on Wednesday, Aug 1. He hit/was hit by a
truck that was making a left into a WaWa parking lot
as Steve traveled up the right shoulder during a peak
traffic period. Apparently neither saw the other.
Steve suffered a spinal cord injury, broken jaw, and
some other broken bones. He is in Jefferson
University Hospital's ICU. Surgery on Friday
stabilized his back with metal rods. He will have his
jaw wired shut on Monday to repair the jaw.
At present and, short of a miracle, Steve remains
paralized from just below the breasts down.
You can send messages of encouragement to Jeanne and
Steve: 154 Spring Avenue, Hatboro, PA 19040. Jeanne
asked that no one send flowers because they're not
allowed in ICU and she's not home to enjoy them. I
would encourage you to send a gift card to a
restaurant or any gift card like VISA that they could
use for parking or other expenses.
I sent an email out to some regarding their
reservation in Cape May Aug 12-15 (four nights at
$189/night). They will not receive a refund if the
unit is not rented. If you have an interest in using
it, please let me know asap.
Finally, her pastor and a friend are going to put up a
website where you can go for updates and, eventually
volunteer to help out. When I have that information I
will forward it. This is all I know at the moment.
Links to the hospital and the Cape May hotel are
below. Of course, your prayers are most needed."
Yeah. Please send good energy, thoughts, prayers to who/whatever you believe in. I didn't include the links, in the event anyone does want a link, just let me know. They've already been through so much. Thanks.
