Another great year for Steampunk World's Fair, the annual convention in New Jersey. The highlight for me was getting to try Bartitsu for the first time at Mark Donnelly's three workshops - I will save those photos for subsequent post. Only as we were leaving the hotel did I realize I forgot to ask anyone to take photos of me! There's only one shot of me in front of the hotel. But I took a whole bunch of the other attendees - greatest people-watching in the world was in the lobby of the Crowne Royal during the SPWF weekend.
Some familiar faces from the NYC Steampunk community at Steampunk World's Fair 2011: Daniel, Michael, and Dorothy.
Marvelously dressed steampunks were everyone one looked.
I thought he must be "Spring-Heeled Jack" but he's just
a steampunk who happens to be on spring heels!
A stunning steampunk lady.
Professor Fumolatro's Multi-gear Tri-axial Accelapede
An Eleventh Doctor Who lookalike
A Professor Snape lookalike. This guy doesn't even have
to try. He just looks like a young Alan Rickman.
The Meowmorphosis, the latest wacky literary mash-up from Quirk Books.
NYC Steampunk Candid #1 featuring Sean and Eleanor.
NYC Steampunk Candid #2 and my favorite featuring Miriam, Dorothy, Larry, Sean, and Mary Alice.
NYC Steampunk Candid #3 featuring Sean, Michael, Diana, and Catherine.
Kris looking dashing.
My Cold Warrioress ensemble. At SPWF I was addressed as "President
of the NYC Steampunk Club" which is very flattering. Of course there is
no such club, but if there was, I like to think I'd be the Social Secretary.
Psyche Corporation and her admirers. Of all the steampunk performers she's the one who seems most otherworldly to me.
I don't know what this is. There was no card or artist cited. I tried pulling some levers and pressing
buttons, but nothing happened - not that I know of. Perhaps a butterfly flapped its wings in China.
Me and a gent on a fine-looking penny farthing.
A steampunk lady who looked like Cinderella
A clockwork lass
A man being carried in a cage by a gorilla. Well, it was the SPWF.
Captain Bluebeard's marvelous ship
This winner of Best in Show at the Beard and Moustache Contest was a crowd favorite.
More category winners at the Beard and Mustache Contest. Not surprisingly, Bluebeard was among them.
Even more winners of the Beard and Mustache Contest. What can I tell you, I was really into clapping for chaps with 'staches.
Further winners of the B & MC. The ginger fellow in the center was one of many random bearded
and mustachioed fellows haplessly strolling by who were pulled into the contest by the MC.
Yet more winners of the B & MC
