photos from the September Steampunk Picnic in Prospect Park

Below are a few photos from the September Steampunk Picnic in Prospect Park, a monthly event organized by Dan and Mary. This may have been the best one yet and I think more than 20 people attended. Too many to learn everyone's names, but perhaps we'll get more acquainted at the next event. Watch the NY Steam Calendar for the date of the next picnic, weather permitting.

You can see the rest of my photos from this event, and add your own, at the Flickr photostream.

Most of the group who met in Prospect Park on September 4 for the monthly picnic, minus a few camera-shy people.

Enjoying treats from an array of old-fashioned picnicking equipment.

Morgana, Mary, and Dan under a shady tree.

Tristan enjoying a spot of tea.

A pair of cute, well-behaved pet rats were the tiniest picnickers.

Spirited game of backgammon.

Mary looking lovely with the sun streaming in her hair.

Noam flanked by Adrienne and Miriam entertained us with a sea shanty. (I tried to capture this in video but totally failed to use my new phone correctly).

Noam's home-made personal ventilation system.

Dan reading from Felix Gilman.

Miriam shared a reproduction of an old Montgomery Ward catalogue.

Well-dressed steampunk couple Noam and Adrienne.

Socializing after the group shots.

Catherine and Samuel under the tree.

Nyx Ann and Orli at either side, in between are assorted steampunks whose names I can't recall, sorry!

My casual steampunk attire for the picnic was made from an old t-shirt, velvet jeans, and leg warmers.
