50 Things About Me
1. When I originally typed the subject of this post, it said 'Thongs', instead of 'Things'. Go me.
2. I was born in Ukraine, and lived in Kiev (the capital) for nine years.
3. I get offended when people reffer to me as Russian, but sometimes, I slip up and do it myself. Hey, at least I'm aware of it.
4. I'm commitment phobic. Not in the sense that I think it's a bad idea (quite the contrary), but in the sense that it literally terrifies me, on a gut level.
5. I've been in two semi-serious relationships, both of which ended badly, due to said phobia.
6. I've been reading fanfiction since I was 13 years old.
7. I've been reading lemon fanfic since I was 15.
8. My first real fandom was "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". My only contribution to this fandom was a craptacular Mary Sue story. In script format. I wish I still had the sucker.
9. My family didn't have the internet until I was 13.
10. We didn't even have a computer until I was 11.
11. I used to read a lot more than I do now. It feels like my attention span gets shorter and shorter each year.
12. When I do read, I like fantasy and sci-fi, which I prefer to be set in our own world, rather than a made-up universe, or a different planet.
13. I've been to two conventions: Anime Boston 2003, and 2004.
14. I'm decently personable one-on one, or in a group of three. Anything larger than that, and I become a stuttering moron, or start lurking.
15. I have an easier time relating to people older than me, rather than ones my age. (Although there are exceptions.)
16. I love modern musicals. Am less fond of the ones from the fifties, with the possible exception of "West Side Story".
17. I once got locked in overnight at the library. It was cool.
18. My cat owns my ass, and she knows it.
19. I named my computer "The Beast". Recently, it has been renamed "Piece of Shit", due to it constantly freezing up on me.
20. I only started using AIM this spring.
21. I have used the same screen name/alias since my first days online.
22. Only recently have I begun using my real name over the internet.
23. I love beta reading other people's fanfiction, and love it even more when people beta read mine.
24. I'm so blaise about my room, it doesn't even quallify as genuinely messy. Just not particularly clean.
25. For two years of high school, I was absolutely terrified of my assistant principal.
26. I'm 19, and I still don't have so much as a Learner's Permit.
27. I have lucid dreams, sometimes - though not every night.
28. I'm planning on making my carreer in writing and publishing, which will probably result in my impending bumhood.
29. I like making jokes at my own expense.
30. I used to get mistaken for a boy on a regular basic, until I turned 12.
31. I feel like I've lived in Boston all my life, and I'm going to miss it so much, when I'm in college.
32. I have long, involved conversations with my characters. In front of my parents. I have yet to be committed.
33. Senior Year was the first time in my life that I did well in math. Ever.
34. I failed English in eighth grade, because my teacher hated me.
35. I used to play tennis, in ninth grade. Doubles. My partner and I were such an old married couple!
36. Every time I go through my clothes, I don't recognize half the stuff in my own closet.
37. Don't ever give me scissors! I like cutting things up, when I'm bored.
38. I never do things the easy way.
39. I hate new shoes, and refuse to wear them, until someone else breaks them in for me.
40. Aside from DVDs (and the brief stint in Cape Cod), I haven't sat down to watch TV in more than two years.
41. I get easily obsessed. Perhaps that's what makes me an ideal fangirl.
42. Conversely, I don't believe in OTPs, and roll my eyes at the flamewars that ensue.
43. If I meet a person with similar interests to mine, in real life, I turn into their personal fanclub.
44. I get along with my parents - more so than most people my age. However, swearing at each other is not unheard of in my family.
45. I come from a very matriarchal family - Mom rules us all.
46. I used to think I was adopted, but was proved wrong. There's paperwork to prove it.
47. My hands are really starting to hurt from the typing.
48. I leave for college on the 3rd of September, and I haven't even started packing yet.
49. I can't see anything but blurs without my glasses.
