- I'd just like to say I'm fond of the intro voiceover. It's like a subtler, more pertinent version of the one they use for Torchwood. Sounds very Sarah, too.
- I like Maria. Actually, she reminds me of a younger me. ...Which makes me sound like I'm ninety, but such is life. At any rate, the young actress, knows subtle. I was scared at first, but I'm seeing a character rather than a kid hamming it up, so life is good.
- ...Is that the alien from "Greeks Bearing Gifts" Sarah's talking to? Not Mary herself, I assume, but maybe one of her people?
- "A reporter must submit to the full experience." Mrs. Wormwood, you minx! Trying to seduce our Ms. Smith. It's an understandable impulse, granted. Very understandable, in fact, as SJ is hot.
- Good God, Kelsey is annoying. At least it's intentional. I've known people like her, unfortunately.
- Awwww, Sarah has pictures of the Brig and co. ETA: And their names are the first she thinks of. Awww.
- I know Sarah's criticism of government agencies and the way they deal with aliens most likely refers to UNIT, but it fits Torchwood so well! And I get a kick out of the fact that RTD produced both shows. It gives me hope the guy's more aware than he lets on.
- "Because I want to be fair." Looks like Sarah's imprinted on the Doctor a fair bit. This is also where I state, somewhat redundantly, how much I <3 Sarah.
- "My pleasure. The next [assassination attempt] will involve harpoons." And the villain's officially redeemed herself from being a bland bwahaha type. Dry sense of humor is always win.
In conclusion: Sarah was fab, I love Maria and want to cuddle Luke. Kelsey's annoying but I bet she'll grow as the series progresses. The plot was nicely paced and executed - not to mention interesting. And I love the relationship Maria has with her dad. There aren't enough functional single dad and daughter families on TV.
Wouldn't you know that the kids' spinoff would turn out to have the better plot and characters than the adult one. Wouldn't you just know. For lack of a better word, SJA has that spark; that magic most of Torchwood seems to lack, and I am thrilled! I can't wait for the rest of the series.
