I think the reason that Tim was willing to help Wendy but not Kara is two-fold:
1. Wendy obviously needed it more than Kara did.
2. If you go to Bravo and read Tim's commentary on the episodes, it's clear that he thinks highly of her ability to distance herself from her work and edit as needed. He probably didn't give her as much advice because he knew she could make it work.
I <3 Austin and I'm thrilled that he's the one that seems to have done the best thus far, scoring a position designing wedding gowns with one of the prestigious makers. That being said, I'm sure Kayne's business perked up even more once he won the Miss America challenge.
ITA that Wendy needed it more! But then I think she should have been dumped from the competition in the early rounds, if not possibly dumped before the show even started. I really thought most of her designs were awful. So now I suspect Tim of having really bad taste. :( More Boo!
2 I can respect. Kara Saun was really good and had clear vision and didn't need as much help, definitely. But he also didn't help most of the other designers. So Tim's help ended up making Wendy look like the short-bus designer she kinda was.
I did not know this about Austin, but I am thrilled for him as well. I just looked at a photo gallery of his dresses and OMG they are gorgeous! They are exactly what I've dreamed of in a wedding dress, and that makes me wish I were really rich and getting married. Maybe I can toss some hints towards my sister, as she's both. I don't think she's going to wear a traditional wedding dress, but just in case
( ... )
I think she should have been as well, but I have to wonder if some of her designs didn't come across better in person than they did on tv (which is entirely possible).
Either that or they were keeping her around for the drama, which also makes me go blargh. And I have to admit some of the other people needed to go almost as much as she did.
Oh, I will keep you posted on my efforts. It's her 2nd wedding, so I kind of doubt she wants a traditional formal wedding dress, plus she and I have different taste and those dresses seem more suited to someone younger than 50. But I would still love to see her in one of his designs. Maybe she could get something custom.
Thanks to you and rhiannonhero, I'm going to end up bumping S2 and S3 to the top of my queue, aren't I?
