Angst
"Yagyuu-kun?"
Koharu doesn't know the girl's name, but she's seen the third-year's face before and she knows through some vague memory, that she is on the Student Council with Yagyuu-sempai. She notes the way Yagyuu pauses before he pushes up his glasses and closes his book. The slight softening of his features as he smiles and steps down from the bleachers to acknowledge the girl.
Behind her, Tanaka Erika snickers a soft: "Oho. Looks like someone's getting a confession today," and the small knot in her stomach makes Koharu want to squirm.
Gen
"Urusai."
The word is out of her mouth before she can think to stop it and for a moment, Koharu wants nothing more than to shrink into her chair as multiple pairs of eyes turn to her.
"I-I mean,"
She does not expect the way Niou's hand pats her on the head, the Trickster congratulating her for breaking the record of effectively shutting Yagyuu up when the Gentleman is on a roll.
Later, she falls into step at his side and murmurs and soft apology.
"No offense taken, Shimizu-chan," he smiles down at her and pats her head in an echo of his doubles partner's gesture. "I was getting a bit long-winded."
AU ; Traditions!verse
Yagyuu spends his entire afternoon waiting outside the Yamabuki gates for Onodera Yuki. When he finally spots her, he checks the street for incoming traffic and then crosses over to her before blocking her path.
They regard each other a moment before Yagyuu clears his throat, "Yamabuki drew Rikkai at the Lottery." He does not want to think about how his heart might as well be all but lodged somewhere in his esophagus; instead he bows low, hands fisted at his sides.
"Please, I would not ask if it did not matter so much. Please take care of Koharu."
Crack/Humor
Koharu is beet red as she enters the club room and she winces when the door bangs shut behind her, louder than she intended.
Michiko is the first to notice, of course, Asari not far behind.
"Something wrong, Koharu?" Sae's voice asks from the doorway leading towards the showers.
She is shaking her head furiously when Mayu and Eiri come in laughing about how unexpected it is to see that the boys' team actually look fetching, cross-dressed as maids for the school festival.
Note: please bear with me, I am going through a phase
Fluff
"So many chocolates, sempai."
Koharu laughs and picks one of the bars and offers it to the freshman transferee who has been tailing her all this week. Mayu's acquisition for the team looks promising: Shigeru-chan is a bright ball of sunshine. She hopes that that enthusiasm doesn't fade.
"A-ara... sempai, why is everyone...?"
Koharu has noticed it as well. So many of the girls are gathered at the gate, but when she searches her memory, she cannot recall anything in the school calendar that would warrant this.
She is about to steer Shigeru away when she hears her name and his voice. She doesn't have the courage to turn, but she knows she has to, if only to check if what she heard was true.
Yagyuu Hiroshi should not be in Kanagawa today, but he is.
"Oh good," he smiles a smile that roots her to the spot. "I thought I'd missed you already."
When he hands her a small, slim box, she stares at it unsure what to do.

Pre/Post Canon
He is the last person Koharu expects to see lingering by the fence that wraps around the girls' team courts.
"Yagyuu-sempai," she calls out in greeting, breaking off from the freshmen who are running laps.
There is something different about seeing him in his casual clothes. It wedges a little ache in her heart; a reminder that an era has ended for Rikkai.
"I'm in town for the weekend," he says by way of greeting, his eyes wandering over the court. He isn't wearing his glasses today and Koharu cannot help but think that he is a completely different person like this. When his eyes flick to hers, she feigns a need to check the girls.
"Getting ready for the tennis season, I see."
"Un," she nods and offers him a smile. "We have a title to defend, after all."
Hurt/Comfort
Yagyuu goes very still as the umpire declares the win in favor of Itoguruma.
Out on the court, on the far side of the net, Koharu slumps to her knees, her head and shoulder slumping as though she were a marionette whose strings had just been cut. Out of the corner of his eye, he notes the way her opponent rushes over to where the rest of Itoguruma is cheering for their victory.
He vaults the ledge in one smooth motion and he tugs out the spare towel he'd tucked into his pocket as he crosses to her: the pig-tailed second year who had turned sheet-white the moment the tie-break by the reserves was declared, but who had nevertheless picked up her racquet to step out onto that court in spite of all odds.
"Shimizu-chan," he kneels beside her before taking her arm and pulling it across his shoulder so that he could support her weight.
"It was a good game." He tells her, but he can already feel the way she is trembling in his arms and he falls quiet, unsure of what else he could possibly say.
UST (Unresolved Sexual Tension)
Yagyuu feels the satisfied feeling bloom in his chest at the sight of the cut on Niou's lip.
"What in blazes is going on here?" Yukimura yells -- but buchou never yells, Yagyuu thinks -- still, it is Yukimura who is demanding an explanation from them both.
"Don't," Yagyuu straightens, one shaky hand adjusting his skewed glasses. "I don't know what you're up to, but don't text Shimizu-chan if you know what's good for you, Niou."
It surprises him when the Trickster bursts out laughing. "There we go, Yagyuu," the silver-haired Regular all but giggles out. "Now you're being honest with yourself."
Note: not exactly UST but--
Smut/Kink
Koharu arches back, her body bending like a bow as her fingers move down her stomach to fist in Yagyuu's hair.
Her heart is beating far too fast and she can barely breathe. She feels too much -- everywhere.
She feels the muscles in her thighs quiver and she shakes her head from side to side, her hips unable to move as his fingers dig into her flesh.
Her head feels light. It feels like a little, glorious death, and when the heat lances through her she opens her mouth and lets out a soft whine of pleasure.
Wild Card
Niou is amused at how Yagyuu is unable to stop the laugh from bursting out from his mouth when Akaya relays to them his complaints over the way Shimizu Koharu had beaned him with the nearest prop earlier at the Halloween Festival's Haunted Mansion.
"She screams really loud too. So annoying. I don't get girls at all. Why bother going into the Haunted House if you can't handle it anyway."
Niou knows why, though he isn't telling anyone. It's satisfying to watch Yagyuu bean Akaya a second time though, with scoldings of: "Don't bad mouth girls like that, it's bad form."
