She was forward, this Seraphina; direct and sure of her movements as she received the tattered piece of paper from Angelo’s hand. Cesare crossed his arms, the fingers of one hand tucked lightly under his chin as he observed the changes on her face: so serious at first, as if peering into a puzzle, and then softer, as she slowly smiled.
“I am hardly a worthy subject.” She grinned brightly, suddenly young, younger than he had thought her to be - maybe thirteen, fourteen at most, to his sixteen. When she handed back the sketch to his fair-haired friend, it was face-up so that Cesare glimpsed the quick strokes that revealed her face, half-rendered in charcoal beside the unsteady lines of what might have been a man. “Your lines are lovely. You draw often, Angelo?”
The latter’s response was a shy nod, a pause, and then that familiar look of worry and apprehension that he might have overstepped his bounds. “I did not mean to offend the lady for taking liberties and sketching your face.” The bow, already characteristic of him, followed soon thereafter.
Randomly popping in to say that I have never been more inlove with writing and that I have this silly little AU to thank for it. Oh Angelo, never change. There is a reason I love this icon of you.
