Simply glorious

It's a beautiful weekend. Friday night, a crowd of us decided to go very traditional, and went out for fish fry. Real fish fry - battered perch, potato pancakes, applesauce - no french fries. And the band played polka! Very fun, and very Wisconsin. Laurie, who moved out a year ago from California for grad school, still watches people polka with a strange fascination and can't believe people polka outside of folk festival.

Sunny, warm, breezy. The first farmer's market of the year. As the Dane County Farmer's Market
requires that if you sell it, you have to grow it and/or make it, this one was heavy on baked goods, bedding plants, and cheese. Which was fine, as I was looking for some to add to my perennial beds, and the goat cheese I've missed all winter. Bought some beautiful lavender to plant as edging in the back.

The dogs and I spent the rest of the day on my friend's farm, riding horses, and harassing rabbits. The dogs now sleep the sleep of the exhausted. The sun and breeze have me tired as well; but I have a barbecue to go to. One beer or glass of wine, and I'll fall asleep in my lawn chair.
