Superheroes
Ah, how true. I learned to read by reading my older brother's Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics. I could glean enough of the story through the sequential art, but I knew there was more going on because of the words. I still read comics the same way I did when I was young: I look through the book for the art story and then go back to read the words story. Like the Greeks before us, I love stories about the supernatural, with Gods, Goddesses, demi-gods, demi-goddesses, and heroic human beings having larger-than-life adventures. I never dreamed of running my own business or working on the farm, I dreamt of being Kitty Pryde of the X-men back when she first joined. Of course, in my dreams, she fell in love with Sherlock Holmes, but I was a very weird kid.

My first and favorite toy as a kid was Mego Spider-man. I'll have to dig through my pictures to see if I still have the photographs from my childhood of them. My best friend, Lynn, liked Spock, so Spidey and Spock had many adventures. We built them homes and everything to go in them. My friend Lynn even made a deck of cards.

Did I mention I was a weird kid?

Writing
The number one tag in my LJ. Yes, I've been writing for a very long time. Actually, my story-telling started when I told small fibs to my parents as to why I was late for dinner or stayed out to play past dark. Eventually, it lead to papers in school (where I always excelled). Actually, the only A I ever received from the toughest, crustiest professor in college, Sister Mary Louise Hall (Sergeant Hall), was for my creative writing assignment I turned in for her Literary Criticism class. She made me come to her office to pick up the paper. I sat on the floor out of pure shock - my knees gave out.

I love telling stories. I wouldn't say I'm a writer, not yet. So, until then, I'll keep writing.

Doctor Who
I first saw Doctor Who when I was in college in the 80s. It was love at first sight. I still believe Hubby and I have the video tapes we made when Doctor Who ran on PBS during the 90s. Now, I believe we have everything on DVD. :-) And I can honestly say, I haven't met a Doctor I didn't like.

Which makes me all excited about our next project.

Florida
Hubby lived in Orlando with is first wife while in Naval Nuclear School. My eldest sister and her family have lived down here since I was a wee child. After my mother passed, we talked of moving. In 2001, we did move and boy, it's been quite the adventure every since. I love the beach and ocean, but do not get over there nearly as much as I want.

Porn
Do I talk about porn all that much? What can I say? I believe an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away (fuck the apple). Being raised Catholic gave me a healthy sexual appetite. I have watched (and own) a fair amount of diverse porn. I live near the best porn shop in the world (I take everyone who visits (except my MIL) to see). I've read and listened to Dan Savage for years (some things I wish I could take back, like the guy who likes to fuck shoes or the woman who cuts herself to simulate loosing her virginity to get off). I've read The Cartoon History of Sex (and gave it to the boy when he was old enough). I've brought sex books to conventions so people can learn or laugh (position #54 in my book is the funniest thing I've ever seen - I believe it's one of those "in theory" positions that no one ever does).

And I'm not shy about talking about it. Sex is good. Sex is fun. Knowledge is power. Sharing knowledge about sex enriches us all.
