When Rita was supposed to hit us, my family boarded up some of the windows of the house. Heidi even spray painted on them, it was so much fun. The thing is... Rita didn't really do any damage where we live. The worst thing I think the hurricane did was make people go into an absolute panic which left gas virtually unobtainable. Shelves in stores were empty; batteries, bread, and water were impossible to find for almost a week. Gas is still out at some gas stations but is slowly returning.
