Door starts with D

I've decided to do a meme from littleyuzu, it took me a while to come up with these! She gave me the letter "D" so I'm listing 10 things...

1. Doors. I have a fascination with doors, doorways, and windows. I like taking pictures of them as you've seen from the last two posts. I think it’s the possibility of what’s beyond the door that thrills me. But also, the door is like the face of a house and sometimes it says so much about what’s inside and sometimes it’s completely unrelated. That’s why they make me so curious. It seems like half the pictures I take while on vacation are of doors.

2. Design, Graphic. My college degree is in Graphic Design. I've been working as a Designer for six years. My relationship with design has been a precarious one. I love the slight fear and anticipation involved in creating something out of nothing. But it's a subjective thing, design, and it lives somewhere between business and art, so the financial side is always battling with the aesthetic side. This is really difficult for me.

3. Design, Personal. I'm beginning to separate my own sense of design from my "work" design. This is exciting, because it's about my own aesthetic, what I really love. I'm hoping to create a line of my own in the near future, in fact I'm working on it now. More on that in future posts. ;)
4. Dogs. I’ve always loved dogs. We’ve usually had one growing up and we now have Poki to delight us. She’ll be turning 2 in a month or so. She’s so hilarious and endearing. One moment she’s chewing up my phone while the next she’s nestling her head on my lap.
5. Dark Chocolate. Do I need to expand on this? Yum. I love it.
6. Dessert. Yum. I get more excited about making desert than I do about regular food. Don’t get me wrong, I like eating regular food and I even like making it, but it’s not near as exciting as mixing up and waiting on a batch of cookies to finish in the oven. Cutting up raw chicken just doesn’t get me as excited as creaming butter and sugar together.
7. Dawn. I do have a friend named Dawn, but I’m actually referring to those early morning hours. The more distance I have between me and my college days, the more I find myself becoming friends with those early hours. There’s something magical about the time of day that you should be sleeping and, if you are feeling awake, you find time to do something nice and slow, like read a chapter in a book and have a cup of tea. It doesn’t always happen this way for me, but the vision is so lovely it’s motivated change in me.
8. Drawing. One of the most relaxing activities. I’ve recently got back into a rhythm of drawing after many years neglect. The hardest part is starting. If you can get past that, it’s fabulous.
9. Driving. I love to just drive into the country and let the stress disappear with the miles. This is ironic, because I know I’ve been heard speaking against the daily drive I used to make into work across Oahu everyday. But that was more like sitting in a parking lot. I’m talking about driving relatively fast with fields and trees and mountains about. That’s what I like.
10. Daily Routine. I like the idea of having this. I’m working on it, but with all the changes it’s hard to start. But I’d love to have a daily routine that included time on this blog. How do you do it, if you do? Just curious…

If you want to join in on this meme, just ask me in the comments and I'll randomly choose a letter for you.
