Yesterday was by turns on of the most exciting and disappointing days I've had in a long time. Okay, so the night before last, Mark asks me to go with him to Kerikeri (a town about an hour and a half from here). So, I am obviously pretty excited about it and stuff, especially the next morning when he actually followed through and called. So, we go. Nice long car ride in his comically tiny car. We get to Kerikeri, (the purpose of this trip was for mark to meet up with one of his friends for whom he is doing a cooking demonstration next month so they could talk about recipes he is going to do and see the kitchen blah blah blah) go to Paul's cafe and wait because mark is early, which he never is. So, while we are waiting he says, "If you want to you can go wander around." So, I was like, "Uh, okay." And he looked crushed that I wanted to leave and not sit there with him and wait. So, I wander around the town wait for him to get back from seeing the kitchen. We have lunch at his friend's cafe (except I was stupid and declined anything to eat due in part to embarrassment and being put on the spot because paul offered to it to us on the house and I have always had a hard time taking stuff for free, but that is besides the point). Anyway, we finally leave and on the way home we stop a the Warehouse (crappy K-Mart type kiwi store). Well, mark dropped me off there after asking if I wanted to go and then changing his mind about coming in. So, he goes to the dive shop up the road and leaves me there for like an hour. Grrrr. He was very apologetic when he came to get me and like and idiot I was all "No, I haven't been waiting long." Lie, I was done looking around in 30 minutes and just sat there waiting for him for the rest of the time. What is it about women that makes us do stuff like this just because we like some stupid guy? Anyway, the whole trip was just a little weird and awkward, but at times quite nice. my sister tells me that I shouldn't take it too seriously because it was only a first outing, and next time it will be better, because we'll get more comfortable with each other. It was a plus that he seemed kind of nervous, though. Other disappointing news was that my friend Ngawai was supposed to have a BBQ last night but instead she'd had a horrible day at work and so it got canceled. But, the best news of the day by far was that my Work Visa has finally been approved. For two years! WHOOOOHOOOOOO! This means that i don't need to worry about immigration for a long time and I can relax and save money! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Sweet! So, awesome. Also, good news on the home front in that my Daddy may be coming to visit soon! And Christine may be coming to visit in June. Yesss! So, I have lots of good stuff to look forward to. =0 )
