A good cry

I watched "The Bucket List" last night. Excellent movie. Cried my eyes out. In a good way.

Today ONTD had a post on Freddy Rodriguez from "Six Feet Under". So of course someone brought up the end of the last episode. Cue youTube. Cried again ( Read more... )

I think you and I have kind of already had this conversation, but I like quite a few tearjerkers, including but not limited to The Green Mile, Stepmom, A Simple Twist of Fate, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Steel Magnolias, and, as you just mentioned, The Bucket List.

Was it great or was it great? I thought you'd like it.

I also cry every time I see the last episode of "Friends" and the episode where Monica proposes to Chandler. I cry at the series finale of "Sex and the City"...well, actually, I cried the entire last season, really. I also cried at the movie for that show, but I knew I would.

Yeah, we did. I think it's when you saw "The Bucket List" and you said it was a tearjerker.

Besides "The Bucket List" and "The Green Mile", I'm not sure if I've seen any of those movies. I know "The Notebook" and "A Walk to Remember" are on my to watch list.

*reads description for "A Simple Twist of Fate"*

That one sounds good. *adds to Netflix*

Might have gotten teary with "Friends" or "Sex and The City", but I don't think they ever got quite the sobbing.

With "Sex and the City" it would be Samantha getting cancer, Samantha shaving her head, and a couple of sweet moments between Miranda and Steve. *thinks* I think the biggest one for Carrie would be the birthday when no one showed up, and Charlotte gave that great speech about being each other's soul mate.

In general, I related best to Miranda and Charlotte.

I don't really have a movie to turn to when I want to cry. I am a big empathy crier. If someone is crying in a movie, I find tears in my eyes. I also tear up with "Aww" moments sometimes, but I blame that on hormones ( ... )

"Titanic" is one of those weird movies that they pushed to the point that I was disappointed when I finally saw it. Too much hype. Can't remember if I cried or not. I think the most touching part of that story, for me, is the idea that the band just kept playing.

Stepmother, or movies that show a loss of a parent are hard to watch without tears.

That's two votes for "Stepmother". Maybe I need to look for that one.

I actually know two sets of parents where they lost a child too young. One is an LJ friend who lost her daughter as a teenager. The other was a real life friend of mine. She was the one who died at just over 30, leaving her parents behind. In both cases they were only children. That's got to make it worse, in a way. At least with other children, you're forced to move on for them.

Oh, and speaking of a child dying, "Pay it Forward" gets me every time.

I refuse to watch "The Bucket List" because Morgan Freeman is one of my all time favorite actors and I refuse to watch him die (even on screen). I did hear that it was a ( ... )

Sorry, the movie is "Stepmom." It is a nice sweet movie to watch. Children learning to deal with a new mother in their life while Susan Sarandon learns to say good-bye to her children. Gets ya in the gut at the end.

I couldn't imagine having to go through that.

"Pay It Forward

I think that I still block out his death to this day.

I love Morgan Freeman's character in that movie

I don't think that he was ever done a bad movie.

I think I have a perverse need for sad stories every once in awhile. My joke is that it's the fact that I'm Wednesday's child. Do you know that rhyme? Wednesday's child is full of woe.

I don't think that he was ever done a bad movie.

Can't think of one.

i saw beaches and cried my eyes out 3 times (i think we talked about this movie in another post :P)

Probably. I did a post on "Beaches" a while ago.

sometimes when some character die or so i could cry a few tears but normally i don't cry with movies...i just see my sis crying (cause she is very emotional) and i don't know why but that makes me laugh (yes, i'm that evil LOL) and then i can't cry (and my sis wants to kill me when i do that :P)

I'd be trying to kill you, too. *g* But then I watch most movies alone, so I don't usually base my reaction on someone else.

I don't watch many (any?) movies that keep me from sleeping, but then I avoid a whole section of the horror genre.

Interesting which ways we are deeply touched.

First off, I will cry anytime a character I like dies. It doesn't matter what mood I am or how many times I have seen it...so, with that said, some of my wettest memories are:
Phai's death in Alexander
Jack's death in Titanic
Owen and Toshiko's death in Torchwood
Dr. Beckett's death in Stargate Atlantis
Vitaly's death in Lord of War
I cry all the damn time on Supernatural...those boys tear me up with all their emotional baggage

Oh this list could go on and on and on...

Phai's death in Alexander

Not as drawn out as some of the other deaths, but it gets to me every time when Alexander starts telling Hephaistion of what they're going to do together. Raising children that will be as close as they have been.

Vitaly's death in Lord of War

I'm not sure if cry every time, but that's certainly a moment worthy of tears.
