Tim and 30STM
I got to talking with chainer_morgana about why she wants Tim to be a full member of 30STM. I thought I'd open the question to the other 30STM fans on my flist.
Matt has been gone for a year, so Tim has been playing with the band for a year.
Why do you like Tim?
Why do you want him to be the permanent bassist?
Like I was telling her, I don't feel passionately either way. I haven't seen Tim play live. Matt was still playing with them when I last saw the band play live in November 2006. To me Tim is a complete unknown. I've seen pictures of him, and shaky youTube videos of him playing live with the band. I know he's a great bass player. I don't think he'd be there otherwise. But I know nothing about his personality. I've heard second hand that he's a sweet guy, maybe a bit shy, but that really isn't enough for me.
Does he have chemistry with the other guys in the band offstage?
If he started attending interviews, would he click with the guys, or would he be the quiet guy sitting in the corner?
Does he share the dream?
My personal opinion is either the guys have decided that Tim isn't a good fit, or they're waiting to see how he works with them while they're recording the next studio album. I can't imagine any other hurdles they could be waiting for. And I don't think they'd choose to keep him as just a touring musician without some reason.
Any opinions?
