Typed up around noon today...
Long time, no post. It's Monday again, and I swear I didn't have a proper weekend. *clip*
Didn't do much on Saturday. Tried to watch the ATT Blue Room Webcast of the KROQ concert, but I ended up fighting plug-ins and window's updates until the boys were offstage. *pout* But thank you thank you thank you to
lilithlotr who posted both the concert clips and tons of press photos.
It's funny as hell to watch the concert clips with the idiots trying to censor Jared for language. Swear he barely got out two words in a row without them muting the stream. This isn't broadcast television. I think our fragile ears can handle anything he can dish out. *g* Just part of his charm.
They did another white night with the masks and the white handkerchiefs. Jared even gave up the chipped black nail polish for some freshly applied pearly white. *g* And Jared and Shannon seemed to be going for a war theme with their t-shirts. Jared had a red stylized assault rifle and Shannon had barbed wire in black. Matt did a white version of the Revolt shirt. Guess that fits the theme as well. Didn't look very closely at Tomo's shirt. (It's one he's worn before.)
Fancier stage. They were projecting images in the background. When they came on stage with the masks they had this whole field of masked men behind them. After that I think they just cycled through the glyphs, the phoenix seal, and (maybe?) the trinity seal.
Short set. Started with "Battle of One" after the familiar "Carmina Burana". Ended with a snippet of "Some Other Sun". In between (unsure of order) they did "Attack", "The Kill", "ABL", and "The Fantasy". Jared climbed up a rope ladder and hung on the roof supports during "The Fantasy". No NIN interlude. *darn*
Jared proved once again if his feet are hurting him from the gout he doesn't let it slow him down. He barely stood still long enough for the cameraman to do a close up. Although it was really cool when he did. The camera angle had the Phoenix flag fluttering in the background as he sang. Very cool looking. Need a screen cap of that.
They did a short video interview. Shannon kept grabbing the mic. *g* They were all in the dark clothes at that point. Jared had a royal purple scarf around his neck. Nice color. Bet it brings out his eye color. Hard to tell in that particular shot.
*clip* See
the supplementary post for all the real life crap.
What else? I've been collecting a few series on DVD. Almost finished re-watching season one of La Femme Nikita. Loved that show. Ultimate in angst. And Peta Wilson really is a beautiful actress. Great heroine. Carries off strong, sexy, and vulnerable with equal skill. Blue eyed blond without the least hint of the "dumb blond" syndrome. Never understood women who embrace that stereotype. *says the brown eyed brunette*
Reading wise, I'm still working on "Funeral Games". While "The Persian Boy" was very personal, "Funeral Games" feels more academic. I find it interesting to read what happened to everyone Alexander left behind, but I can't say I'm emotionally tied to anyone in particular. Ptolmey seems to be the wisest, choosing to stay in Egypt and let the rest fight over the throne. Only thing that really pulled on the heartstrings was when Ptolmey showed Bagoas where Alexander's body would rest. He told him that Alexander built the temple for Hephaistion. And Bagoas acknowledged (to himself) that it was fitting that Alexander would reside in Hephaistion's house, for surely they were in the afterlife together. He even acknowledged that he didn't kill himself after Alexander's death, knowing he was with Hephaistion.
In some ways, I wonder how things would have been if Hephaistion outlived Alexander. Would he be among all those who died not being able to control Alexander's legacy. I've read that he was better at logistics and diplomacy than warfare. On the other hand, part of me is glad he didn't see Alexander's dream crumble. Then again, if Hephaistion didn't die, maybe Alexander would have lived longer.
I think Jacqueline Carey is next on my reading list - the beginning of the second Kushiel trilogy.
