ID Sex Scenes Part II (Detailed Spoilers)

Oct 11, 2004 13:06

This is kinda a continuation of this entry.

The question was posted on bookloversgroup.

What did you think of the quantity of sex in the book? Did the scenes take away from the plot or add to it?

I thought Nathaniel's scenes were the most telling of Anita's growth.

And his.

He wanted her to want him for himself, not to feed some metaphysical need. Who doesn't want that? And it forced her to see that love comes in many, many different types.

The furry scene was interesting to me in several ways. First, it made me shiver, but everyone knows that but there was a lot more to it. For once, she was forced to see Nathaniel AND Jason as more than her 'pets'. They are fully adult males who want and need the same as anyone else and Nathaniel wants her, even goes so far as to mark her with his bite and claim her as both human and as animal self. And actually claimed her in front of Richard.

The other scene that I found interesting was Anita/Richard/Jean-Claude. Anita blasts Richard for his homophobia... and to be honest, I find Anita just as homophobic as he is. Though there were hints this time that perhaps Jean-Claude is not keeping much distance from Asher. And perhaps Jason and Nathaniel are not so... distant either.

Um yeah... thats what I think! :)

At one of the signings, someone asked Laurell about JC and Asher. She said Anita doesn't know exactly what they are doing, and she doesn't want to know.

I think the idea that she is letting them be together is good, but by the end of ID, I would think she could do so without keeping the blinders up. She has all these men willing to love her and be with her. Why can't she openly share Jean-Claude with Asher?

Jason and Nathaniel. I can see it happening in the future, but I don't think anything has happened pre-ID. Nathaniel was too sexually frustrated at the wedding, and he was too insistent on not coming till Anita said he could. Jason isn't alpha enough to convince Nathaniel to do something without Anita's blessing. I could see Micah or Jean-Claude or Asher being alpha enough to tell Nathaniel what to do, but not Jason.

I love all these openly bi-sexual and bi-curious characters. So many possibilities. Is it just me, or do you get the impression that most of the guys would be willing to play with each other?

I wonder what it would be like if Anita had Jean-Claude, Asher, Jason, and Nathaniel all in bed again, like in NiC. She is now lovers with each man, Jean-Claude and Asher are/were lovers, and everyone else is up for anything. *sigh* That would be a hot scene. Could even throw Micah in to the mix. Don't think Richard is quite up to that. *g* Give Jean-Claude some time. Now as long as they bolt the door and hide Anita's cell phone and beeper....

Anita/Nathaniel. I never thought about Nathaniel claiming Anita both as human and as leopard. Do you think the lycanthropes see that as a deeper bond? I guess it is freeing, knowing that if they do let go and shift, their lover will be ok with it. Maybe that's what Richard needs. He needs to know that Anita accepts his beast as much as she accepts him.

I think Laurell doesn't want to have the males together... at least where we get to see it.

We certainly get large hints that JC and Asher were dying together if nothing more...

Jason... I adore him because he is actually the most human character in the lot... even though hes a werewolf. Jason has become a fairly normal horny young man. He'd take Nathaniel if he got a chance... but Nat is Anita's.

When you bring up the four men in the bed with her... i am tempted to write it. I love piles of people.

Micah is just so blatantly sexual! That's really all you can say about him. He's sex on legs.

I would like to see Laurell make Anita open enough to let them... do as they will.

NOW I've got that five person pile in my brain!

LOL. I don't know if that makes me a good influence or a bad one.

I really loved that scene, and now, the possibilities. *g*
