I'm starting to wind down now, so I think I'm going to take a nap before heading to visit my friend. She's going back to college next week, so this is the last weekend I'll have to visit her. Can only stay the day though because I need to come back and feed the animals.
Was also thinking about the other day when my grandmother and I were waiting on Pappy to come back from his check-up. There was a book sale right down the street that day, so we just tagged along and waited in the car for him to get back. Left us with little to do but talk during the wait. Grandma made a comment about Uncle Danny, then I commented on how the Hank Williams shirt she was wearing looked like Danny. This got us to talking about him for a bit, which led to conversations about the relationships between everyone. She told me she wished she had had the bond I had had with Danny, which surprised me. I remember being the only one allowed to touch his things or sit in his chair, but didn’t think I had a better relationship with him than anyone else in the family did. It made me think though. Like what it would be like if he were still here or whether or not my grandfather and I would still have the type of bond we had had before Danny's death. But then I put a halt to those thoughts because the "what if's" can drive a person crazy. In a way, I kind of wish he had had a child while he was alive though. He would've made a great dad and I could share stories and tell him or her what a great person he was, but then again, I don't need to tell anyone that to know and remember how true it is.
I better get off of here and go take my nap.
