Mother Nature

I believe in a system of checks and balances in nature. Nature fights to maintain a balaced system here on earth, creating new threats to kill off over populated species, shaking up eco systems that have become stagnant with the occasional storm, etc. I have faith that this is true, though I'm not sure of the degree.

So I wonder, could the hurricane in Mississippi and Louisiana that crippled our oil production and delivery system have been a reaction to our using too much petroleum? I've heard that hurricanes may be getting worse on average due to global warming raising the temperature of the ocean currents and thus feeding storm systems. The global warming is largely due to the combustion of too much oil. Is it really a coincidence that it hit the place where so much of our oil comes from, where so much of it's refining and processing takes place?
