Good by Sally...
Sally is leaving. Sally is the gal I share an office with. In the work food chain she works for me, but it is really a partnership more than a boss-employee relationship. My weak points are her strong ones and vise-versa.
I have been trying to get her a raise, but that is like pulling chickens teeth. Companies that don't have a profit don't usually give out raises. That sucks.
She has been out of work since Monday, she has this nasty crap that has been going around and her doctor put her on some good cough medicine and put her off work for 2 days. She called me up today and told me she had some good news or bad news, depends on how you looked at it. The first thing I said was "You got a new job", yep. She fibbed to me last week when she said she had a dentist appointment, she had a interview. Her last day will be Friday, she starts this comming Monday. I was shocked, but I am happy for her. She will be getting paid more and doing something similar to her previous job. I'm going to miss her, we have gotten to know each other pretty good over the last (almost) 2 years. We know each others kids and grand kids names, which in-law or significant other is a jerk and which one is nice. We have discussed our ex's and PMS remedies, talked out our problems with each other and listened to each other blow off steam or just laughed till our faces hurt. We even found time to do our work. We have gotten tired of each other and missed each other when one of us was out of the office. We are friends.
Sally, I'm gonna miss you, you had better send me goofy chain e-mails and updates on your life, your pets and kids. Let me know if Rat boy shapes up and if Crystal quits being a whiner, if your daughter in law gets pregnant and if you find a boy friend.
Sucks for me on a personal and work level, but I wish her the best.
