Yesterday, at work, I went to Farmer Crack to get some lunch. They have a pretty good deli and I'm pretty much fast-fooded out anyway. I decided to try to have a healthy lunch. I got a big chef salid and a box of Triscut crackers and a can of Cheeze-Whiz. Yes, this is healthy.
So I'm sitting at my desk, playing on the internet and eating. My office-mate is at her desk likewise involved. I am holding my cracker in my left hand and squirting cheese on it with my right, being careful to make a nice back and forth motion for maximum cheese coverage; when suddenly the can lets out this loud sound like someone going crazy with large bubble wrap in an empty room and cheese was expelled in sputters of air at maximum velocity, rebounded off the cracker and splattered me, my desk, the wall and some stray parts I had laying around. I sat there blinking at my cracker and the carnage. My office mate looked over at me with her deer-in-the-headlights look and didn't say a thing. Just stared. (Sometimes she gives me the willies when she does that.) OK, that was yesterday's lunch. Beware the cheese.
Cut to today, lunch time. I'm out on the production floor, gonna take care of some loose ends and then grab lunch. The Plant Manager had told us all that he was leaving early today. He had a funeral to go to, the mother of one of his friends. He was not very close to the woman, but was going because of his friend. So there I am, nose deep into identifying parts and applying some of the thousands of little green dot's that my career has turned into; PM walks up and says bye, he is leaving. I respond: OK, see you tomnorrow, have fun. OMG, that actually came out of my mouth. He stops and turns around and asks me "Did you say have fun??" By this time I'm about 4 shades of red and have my hand over my mouth, increadable mortified. I managed to blurt out several sentences about being sorry, no don't have fun, and something about that isn't really what I meant and plenty of gibberish. My inspector helped me out by telling him yes, have lots of fun... I'm so not gonna live this one down for a couple of weeks. Need to pay attention to what I'm saying....... My only consolation is that we had discussed this funeral and he was going out of respect for the family and wasn't having any emotion issues over it...But I know him, he has a wicked since of humor and this will be used against me for at least 2 weeks...
