Thoughts on dating

Since leaving Pittsburgh three years ago, I've only dated one person and that relationship was fairly short-lived, in part, due the 3000 miles between where the two of us live. That said, life can get kinda lonely living in a state where I still don't know that many people.

In 18 months I've lived in New Jersey, I've met a hand full of young women I'd be interested in going on a date with. I feel like there are two things that have kept me from pursuing a relationship with any of them: (1) I'm pretty unsatisfied with my job and want to stay flexible so that I can move when the time comes and (2) none of them actually live in New Jersey.

I *think* that if I met some women living in NJ, I might be willing to overcome issue #1 and just hang here a while longer. On the other hand, because of #1, I'm reluctant to do anything outside my comfort level (online dating and such).

And so, I remain single and mildly tormented by memories of past relationships.

I've moved SO many times in my life and I hate having to keep making and leaving friends. At present, I'm hoping that the next place I move will be some place I'll want to stay and put down roots. Maybe then I'll make a stronger effort to make new friends and date again.

dating, life
