So, we went today for what they said was a mask. I know they said it, because my sister Laura heard it to. It turns out that it was really for a CAT scan to mark out the precise points where they need to aim the radiation. We go back on Friday to confirm the points. Daddy has black crosses on his neck which he can't wash off until after his treatments are finished. That part is fine.
Daddy has a marked kyphosis - a really bad curvature of the spine. I told the technician this when I saw that they meant to put him on his back on a hard surface. He physically can't straighten his back, and he's nothing but skin and bones so there is no padding. He said that he would not be able to tolerate the treatments if they were all like that. I will be making a phone call in the morning. There is no medical reason that they can't put some padding/pillows down for him to lie down on. They are only scanning his neck.
